greaves,

I owned a H Reg (1991) Mini, once. It was like driving a go cart, quality for going through gaps & nicking car spaces.

You're first time was during your driving test.

Must of been a nice female inspector then, or were you just up for anything to make sure you passed?

Edinspur,

My 17th birthday was in the August, i had my first lesson middle of September (1st time i'd ever got behind the wheel of any car) & i passed 6th December that same year (1st time).

Beat that.

Its much easier the younger you are lads.

When my lad is 17 im gonna make him do his test cos you fly it at that age.

I cant beat that Chicken, however my birthday is on the 30th of November and I didnt have a driving lesson till mid Jan due to weather

Edinspur,

It was complete luck on the day really. I didnt feel confident at all (then again, who does?), i messed up everything in my lesson before the test. I couldnt reverse round the corner, my emergency stop was shaky, i dont even want to talk about my reverse parking - but somehow, for the 40-45 minutes i was on my test, everything went perfect.

Phew!

They do say, as a general rule, you need as many lessons equal to what age you are, ie:

17 years old = 17 lessons
30 years old = 30 lessons
40 years old = 40 lessons...and so forth.

Chicken

I was a bit nervous before the exam, but not during. Also got given the easiest test route, no emergency stops and my 2 manoeuvres were Turn in the road and Bay park, the easiest two. I was really quite fortunate.

Also 1 of my three minors was cos someone nearly ran in the road in front of me

Actually its 61..................................but this is me being polite to someone who obviously has little manners or breeding!

Chicken.........................................My PH Special was a 1972 model, as basic a car as you could get compared to todays motors. Sliding door windows, central locking as I could reach both doors from the drivers seat! Damn inefficient heater and a battery in the boot!! Ah those were the days..................................

By the way, my post immediately above was intended for Captain Spaulding...........................

Is it good manners to jump in on someone else's conversation and start pontificating?
