Nobody will take any of our summer signings but I'm sure we could get money for McGugan, Gunter, and Chambers. I wouldn't be sad to see anyone go from this squad really, Camp would be a loss but even he's a shadow of the player last year.

My big problem is I have no faith that we'll get adequate replacements in.

Strett, seriously, who is going to reduce their 9k salary to 4k? Nobody will cut £250k off their salary if it's in writing for a year or more! Ridiculous notion. I agree that clubs have to do that and players may accept less when their contract has run out but not before.

i wouldn't be unhappy to see the back of any of them after the way they've performed and carried themselves this season, to be perfectly honest.

the only player to put in an acceptable effort is lynch, but he's out of cintract and will probably leave at the end of the season.

It is interesting how the face of football will change (especially below the prem) in the coming few seasons as contract negotiations begin. Maybe more 'average' players will go abroad looking for money, as the agents will tell them to (to ensure their slice of the pie)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
i would expect wages to come down dramatically and your average player will be forced to drop their wage expectations or stay without a club until they do.

i can't see what foreign clubs would want with english lower league plodders who can't actually pass, shoot or do anything remotely technical with a football.

I expect we're after a team full of Lynches. Hard working, cheap, adequate. Like I said before it won't be pretty but I'd rather see that than watch someone like McGugan who is clearly a talented player and on more money who for whatever reason doesn't perform well or seem to be bothered.

I've no doubt that the bloke who was on 9k will accept 4k for his next contract, it's a different time financially. If you were a decent performer in our side and on 9k per week for the next season and a half you wouldn't take less and cost yourself £250k/yr, why would you? The only way you would is if we were to say the reduced contract is for an extra 2 or 3 years. Firstly, it's been stated that we're not offering long term contracts so that's out and secondly you still wouldn't reduce your money more than half to get another 2 years on a contract. You'd take the 9k then sign for 4k when it's over with Forest or someone else.

Lloyd is right, no way would you except a reduced contract if it would cost you £250,000. You would see out your contract and then resign or sign for somebody else on whatever wages you can get. You would have to be a complete muppet to do anything else surely?

To be honest I think most clubs will not be in the situation we will be in. We will lose good players for nothing and replace them with far worse players. We don't have anything to offer a good player anymore really!

Camp Gunter McGugan and Blackstock could be sold for a reasonable pricebut not what they are worth and we could maybe get 5 or 6 decent Championship players in with the money

No need to sell.
Re-negotiate contracts at reduced salary. All clubs are going to have to do this in the Championship, so players are going to have to accept less money to pimp their cars with.
For example £9k per week to 4k per week will give an annual saving of £250,000 per year.4 players acceping that and you have stripped £1m off the wage bill

what planet do you actually live on strett?

McGoldrought is on big money he isn't figuring in the match day squad so should have his contract paid up[assuming we can't sell him] I would sell Chambers in January.
Lewis if handled properly should have a 8-10 million valuation, not 1.5. We can't afford to give away our most talented players for peanuts!

Forest need to get back to Billys style of passing front to back, the players have demonstrated theycan handle that.

---------------------------------
Sorry but that is just ridiculous. He's worth no more than £1.5m. If you seriously think any player in the Championship would go for £8m then you are living on another planet.

Who is the most valuable player in the league right now? Kevin Nolan? Ricky Lambert? They are worth around £3m so compare McGugan to them and that's your valuation.

A player is worth whatever we could sell him for. None of our players are really good enough to play regularly in the PL and NPC clubs aren't buying. If we could sell any of our players we should as long as we don't sell more than say three. Hopefully this would enable us to bring in 5 or 6 new players who wouldn't cost a fee and would not want the wages that the outgoing players are receiving.

For example D****shire out saving £6000 p.w.
Marlon in, no fee, pay as you play £1000 per match.

Boateng out saving £6000 p.w.
Perch in on loan, £4000 p.w.

I better qualify my comments regarding Lewis; if he can rediscover his form and shooting boots from last season and if Forest were to gain promotion that would be the asking price in the Prem. Which is were we still want to be.

Thats a big if, Bear.

Remember Graham Dorrans, probably the best midfielder in the Championship when Albion won promotion. How much would he sell for now?
