I dont know much about this player.
I think that says enough though so I think that money would be better spent elsewhere...
Did he not play out wide when he played against us? Think he looked pretty good though.
He has 5 assists in the CL already this season, the most of any player
Is he a wide player or central?
Dan Diggler (U4142)
He is an attacking midfielder, who can play on the left also
Would he fit our style of play?
Dan Diggler (U4142)
I'm not sure if he is capable of playing cm in a 4-4-2, but I am not the one to judge
As discussed in the articles on this subject yesterday...for £30m it would be a terrible buy. £30m after complaining of no value!!
United would be much better placed buying someone who actually plays in the position we need for a start.
We desperately need a top class central midfielder and that isn't Gaitan, who often play's high up the pitch and wide for Benfica. He played a few times for Boca centrally but isn't the man we need to control the game in the middle of the park. The best part of his game is crossing, but does nothing to an outstanding level, and is very lightweight spending much time on the floor. He's not a good dead ball specialist either in terms of a goal scorer, only taking the ones to cross the ball. He can't header for toffee and although he does track back to be fair, his tackling isn't even Scholes standard. No experience in a top class league either and top level creative experience is something we are seriously lacking centrally, as well as a defensive mid, and he sure isn't that.
If we'd gone after him instead of Young then fine, but after spending 16m on Young it would be crazy, and especially for 30m! Is there some problem with SAF just buying a central midfielder? Maybe someone's hypnotised him 'this isn't what you are looking for' every time he enquires about a CM.

This has frequently occurred to me too. Maybe he still has cold sweats about Djemba, Kleb, Smith, Miller, etc so he's scared to take a punt on another CM! It does seem to be a positon that SAF struggles to get right for some reason (compared to the number of amazing signings in other positions).
