It's so confusing that you've mistaken this for some kind of computer game forum.

A few tips:

The easiest place to hire a companion is go to a pub and chat to a few people usually someone to hire.

There is a max weight limit but if you talk to your companion and tell him to pick stuff up he/she can carry unlimited amounts of stuff.

Most places dont show on your map unless you discover them walking around so get walking(or get a horse)

Climbing is easy keep jumping...

No matter how far behind you companion is as soon as you enter a cave or something they are right beside you so dont worry about them keeping up.

Dragons can be a pain to kill at the start especially fire ones. Ice dragons are easy. Best way to kill them at the start is a good bow and duck behind stuff!

Talk to lots of people(its how most missions start)

For some reason the game keeps auto saving and after a while it really messes up the game and makes it freeze so keep deleting older ones!

Anything in paticular your stuck on?

I sat and watched my mate's girlfriend playing this most of saturday evening (unsociable cow!) - and i have to say as a viewer it is one of the most dull, uninspiring things i have ever seen.

she spent about 10 minutes just walking up some stairs up some mountain. very lovingly, beautifully re-created stairs admittedly, but still just walking up stairs.

other than that it seemed like she was constantly going through list after list of potions etc.... not enough action for my liking.

If you meet an archer called Faendel (spelt something like that) get him as a companion because he is boom! Seriously he doesn't die because he shoots from range and does good damage so I approve him

Zaphod Zoeller

Once you have discovered most places you can just move there instantly. Once you get into the game its seriously addictive! Dont get me wrong some parts can get tedious(same as most games) but unbelievable amounts of action!

Cheers Arsene's menthol strength

The basic thing I'm struggling to understand is like the aim of the game and how you level up

not my sort of action though menthol. All those lists and things just remind me too much of geekwars back in the day (d&d and the like).

Most of those sort of games i don't mind watching, although i don't play them - but this one just seemed to be list after list of potions etc.

Perhaps having a working knowledge of the earlier ones would help, but it was just all a bit dull, despite being pretty.

I can understand why someone might find it confusing as there are no proper instructions enclosed. You basically have to start the game and work it out as you go along.
But it does become clearer.

But a proper and detailed instruction manual would have been a good and obvious thing.

I'm on level 2, but I've just started. I need to do the Beak falls barrow quest and get that stone thing the wizard at Jarl's palace wanted. Apparently it takes aaaages.
