If this is true then yes, it shows the new regime to be looking to the future. It also means that we maybe able to get the likes of Chimbonda and Beye to do the same. Add to this the new strikers and midfield players already looking to come in for the New Year and it all looks very promising.
he is a good player if a bit of a nutter
He is a good player full stop. In his time with us he has also proved to be a decent person. He ois being treated well by the club and supporters and therefore he has no need to show the bad side of his character, give the lad a break.
I gave him a break
he played for us won some medals then went away
cant say im sad he has gone
But I wish him well and hope he continues to to keep the heid and brings some success to you guys
Merry Christmas
The Duke.
Cofirmed on Doncaster Free Press website.
Also on Rovers website, with very positive comments from Diuof about signing and wanting Billy to stay.
Well, he hasnt exactly signed the deal yet, but it does sound good.
I will wait until he signs before i allow myself to go into dreamland. RTID.
drfchound he has signed, it's the press are a bit slow.
Not the last eye opener yet folks. Was told "get ready". Wouldn't give any names or say anything else, so to me that in itself speaks volumes as I've always got names before. So this does get me excited.
DS and Diouf will be on Football Heaven tonight if you want to listen to more
Well i'm in dreamland now then.
The beeb have caught up a bit.

I wonder if we can justifiably sing "just a pub team" anymore?
Yep. It will upset the rest even more. :D
We are now "just a Brassiery team having a laugh".
I'd like to see the efforts to sing that after a few pints before the match.
This is fantastic news! Chuffed to bits that El Hadji has signed! Maybe it's the Christmas spirit, but I have to say that I am becoming more optimistic - as stated previously, my belief is that for this scheme to work for the longer term benefit of the club, we have to get promoted, and / or to get new investment, and / or to grow the fan base to sufficient levels (tough at a any time, let alone at a time of recession). However, if we can survive in the CCC this season and get to the PL next season, then all 3 i.e. promotion plus investment plus larger fan base could well happen and the club 's short term future would then seem to be secured. - trusting that the Board is considering the risks of this bold approach (i.e. if we do not get promotion or worse, get relegated) and covering them off!
Other reasons for optimism - As regards big name players, well, in DS we have a Manager who has been there and done it as a player - he will therefore have the respect of the big name players - and players globally will respect the talent and ability of El Hadji Diouf. Good also that DS is looking to put the right structures in place to ensure that the club can develop its own talent going forward - this helps to de-risk the current strategy at least to some extent.
Finally, I know that people have difficult decisions to make as to how to spend their money - especially at a time of recession when for a growing number, every penny counts - but I hope that the club's support holds up and grows during the second half of the season. Whatever our opinions and doubts, the club needs every ounce of support that we can give them if this bold approach is to work!
Another piece of good news is a French TV station is trying to get the rights to show Donnys matches because of the number of French players we have. If they are successful it should increase the number of matches we will be able to see live on the net above the one or two a month that are on Al jazeera sports.
should read......Now that sounds good Spike!
additional revenue for the club Spike?
Merry Christmas fellow ziggers! Why do I get a feeling Billy might stop, wanting to feature in the plans for the future! But then part of me says they can't afford him with the new regime! And our low support!! His aim is prem for sure, may be just may be it might be with us!! Exciting times for a rovers supporter right now! Must say how much more confident I feel from 2 months ago!
Perhaps the French TV money could go towards Billy's wages to help us to make him an offer to stay.
I too get the feeling that he might be intrigued enough to see what happens over the second half of the season.
Diouf's comments about him were especially encouraging and that in itself may get Billy thinking it could be worth being part of what is happening.I, like many of us, certainly hope so.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to all Rovers supporters wherever you may be and lets hope the New Year is an exciting one.
RTWD.
I not expect Diouf agree 18 months contract but it great news!
Is little worry Diouf maybe change mind not to sign contract after what happened at Burnley
