Those are the type players Grayson likes.
He's the enemy of quality.
And the friend of the shitt.
If you're a poor player who no one wants, you know Grayson will have a long-term contract waiting for you.
And Ken Bates prides himself on his prudence, yet he's the mug who signs them off.
' KIlla offered us control and guile, johnson was the powerhouse who we could rely on for bursts of energy.'
As far as i'm aware Grayson wanted to keep these 2 players but Bates thought they were asking for unrealistic wages.
Grayson regularly dropped Kilkenny, it was the first thing he did when he came to the club, so I find it hard to believe that he wanted to keep him.
He also told us he let them go to bring in better players.
One thing Johnson did offer was a heading threat.
The bloke was good at that. We lost that for sure.

On the flip side Grayson is the manager who gave Bradley Johnson a 2nd chance after his loan to Brighton. Think Kilkenny got his fair share of games last season though because he missed a month of the season whilst away with Australia.
Johnson was younger and off-form at that time.
People give Grayson credit for loaning out Lees and White, so why not give McAllister credit for loaning out Johnson?
Johnson is a more direct player which is the kind Grayson favours.

Sure McAllister deserves credit as he may have used him if he'd kept his job. Just saying Grayson obviously rated him from the start and would have wanted to keep him, but he's gone to the prem so most managers in the championship would have liked him in their team.
He obviously didn't try hard enough to keep him.

Bates is always right!
