different leagues and competitions have different minimum and maximum sizes, and although usually team pick one and stick with it, i guess there isn't a rule against changing it.

I thought Barcelona are the only culprits in changing pitch sizes to suit their style, but Stoke has gone the opposite to reduce theirs as well - now it looks like a snooker table

they have to expand the width for the europa league though.
