Completely Agree. although Swansea have forked out alot of Graham so i doubt it, and i would hope we are more attractive than Wigan.
We aren't more attractive than any of the Prem clubs Blue Army Fox because they can out muscle in the wonga dept.....
I posted my article on the Bristol board and it's not gone down too well...oooops
oh god your fans just dont get it hes on 20k now
Good article. The bosman ruling know means players hold all the power now.
I think we could be able to outbid teams like Wigan for Maynard if we are serious.
I'd be quite surprised if Bristol were paying anyone 20k, let alone a player they signed from League 1, although I'm prepared to admit I'm wrong if you can show us where you got that figure from shiny? That's a huge wage for a Championship player if true - DJ, who we paid 2 million for, was only on 12-15k a week.
Even if he is on 20k we could double that or more if we wanted to, although personally I think that'd be highly unadvisable - we were paying the Yak about 40k a week and that's just far too much for any player at this level. I'd love Maynard to come here and it does look like he'll be leaving Bristol one way or another, but we need to be sensible with the money we've got and if the deal's not financially viable then we should look elsewhere.
I have seen this situation a thousands times. Tommorows news will be that Nicky Maynard has handed in a transfer request. And by the end of the week he will be a Leicester player
hes in portugal on a pre season tour
Pre season dont start for another week and half. Players are only just returning from the hoildays
I thought everyone said he was on holiday?
Should Maynard sign it'll be the first time we've signed a player that is quite sought after for a long time.
When was the last time?
Do you guys honestly think Maynard will want to leave Bristol City for you guys, there will be better teams in for him should Bristol City decide to sell him before his contract is out.
Nicky Maynard, Nicky Hunt and David James are our top earners, all over 20k per week, altho im led to believe DJ is the highest.
Bristol City's wage bill suggests that the average weekly pay (for players) is maybe £8k. Possibly less. Are there really players on three times the average? Also, I can imagine James being the highest-paid, but some national newspapers reported him signing for £15k pw, not 'over 20k'.
But who knows. The club appears to spend more than 120% (!) of its income on wages, so anything is possible.
From rumours ive heard 3 players are on the 15k a week bracket at bristol city, that being James, Maynard and Stead, all the other are on under 10k
Stead on 15k? OTT that is - by about 10k.
olocky: yes, 15k sounds more likely to me. If three players were on over 20k, the average for the rest would be 6k according to my back of a cig packet calcs. Possible, but the kind of disparity that tends to cause unrest.
The 'swearing' filter on here is still way OTT. A ban on 'f*g packet'?
