Sorry, but you cant make comments like that when we have never been in a position before to offer that sort of money for players for them to refuse us, we could get them on silly wages like City managed!.

Well let's hope furrgy isn't after any top players in january then as manu are no longer amongst the elite.
They'll have to settle for players who are happy to play on a thursday night..........................

I dont have any examples of certain players turning you down, but the top, top players want CL football and want to be fighthing for honours - something that you cant offer them at the moment.
I completely understand what bloodred is saying. Its the same for us (Spurs), even if we could spend £40m on one player, the chances of us getting the player would be slim, as they would much rather join the high earners at City/Chelsea or regular trophy winners like Utd.
I think this is another reason why we didnt sell Modric for big money, because we wouldnt be able to replace him with an equal valued player.

I think with City and Chelsea it was different. With the amount of cash they had, the players who went there knew it was only a matter of time before they were up there challenging. Plus there was of course the money factor. I dont know how willing Liverpool are to pay £200,000 a week to every new signing.
Liverpool may have a bit of cash, but at the moment its still hard to see you catching either of the Manchester clubs anytime soon.

The fact that you have won 5 European cups has absolutely no bearing on whether or not you will win it again. At present, Chelsea, Arsenal and City have a greater chance of winning it. Only deluded Liverpool fans would say otherwise.
