I honestly don’t understand the responses to this article; he is clearly saying that as good as Sturridge is, he is so selfish to play as a winger. Wingers are meant always to put the ball in 18yards or always aiming for the goal poacher (DD OR Torres) and not always trying to score and would not bother looking for the first option of the ball to the goal poacher. I honestly don’t think is a bad article and I have seen him play and I know he is great but I must say I have seen him take unnecessary shots at goal when it obvious that you there are more chances of the goal coming from another pass to the forwards than you trying to do it alone. Simple fact I have noticed.
I agree , these posters are quick to the rating board but they dont even reply as to why they dont agree.

So we would be better playing Kalou or Malouda on the wing? Obviously not.
He's our top scorer and has 7 assists.
Without him we would be doing worse!
Sturrmatador I agree with you m8 , many cfc posters just go for the rating board once they see an article they dont agree with.
The article was an interesting read and it sums up the bad side of sturridge.
He needs to create and play more for the team instead of constantly looking for prove that he can play striker.
Agree completely, only just made my own article on the guy
Can't quite believe what im reading.
Hasn't he assisted like 7 goals this season.
Sturridge is far from the finished article, and has plenty of room for improvement but he is still creating chances for others from that wing position.
The idea that he is the reason four our woes is stupid.
Our problems are that our full back are not fast enough nor good at crossing. In fact we have a general lack of pace throughout the side,so it is ironic that the one player we have that is quick ,gets this stupid theory thrown up at him.
And to link Sturridge as the reason Torres has been poor is laughable.
Torres has been poor for two years with or without Sturridge. Liverpool never played with wingers so since when has that been his supply line.
its funny how there's so many sturridge articles today all pointing out the same thing. i read that bleacher report article. made some good points... so im gna have to sit on the fence for now, il watch sturridge closely for next few games. problem is, we're so desperate for goals that we'l take then any way they come but ideally we need our players to do the role that is asked of them. wingers to create space on the wing and supply forwards, midfields to break up play and start attacks, fullbacks to provide support for wingers..on a side not ive seen many times, torres doesnt get the ball quick enough or he gets ignored by the other player who goes for the shot instead, this is why he rarely scores, we as a team have too many selfish players looking to score but never actually do. the only one who is scoring is sturridge, rest of the team are contributing nada. so why not get our midfields and wingers to start supplying torres PROPERLY. if it worked for liverpool, it can work for us.
And I have been called everything under the sun for posting it....
Just thought it was a interesting read and will share it.
its funny how in the space of a year and half, we've gone from having a free scoring lampard, malouda, anelka, kalou & drogba to just one striker capable of getting the ball in the back of the net.

i am not saying that some of the points are rubbish, because some of them are accurate.
However what has been rubbished is the way the article is written.
if it was in the context of "is sturridge wasted on the wing?" or "sturridge still improving!" we could have a debate on it but it is in the context of "sturridge is the cause of chelsea's problems"
this is again a very negative article when the points behind it are refering to him wasting shots when he COULD pass the ball instead.
this is a fair point but what is not a fair point is to blame him for all that is wrong.
we could understand if it was in the same context but about a few players i.e malouda, kalou, mikel, and a lack of squad depth.
Sadly it is not, it is refering to our top goal scorer and 3rd top assist which is complete and utter botox IMO.
Why is there so much Sturridge bashing today? Based on one very poorly written article? TBH it's stupid and his 'selfishness' and 'greed' for me is overhyped. When Lampard or Meireles shoot and miss not much is said but when its Sturridge because he's a confident player he's a big headed arrogant player who only plays for himself. We are probably the only club with fans who criticise one of their best players so much.
I don't know what's worse that awfull article or that some of you lot have brought into that drivel.
Haha thanks for quoting me. I'm honoured. The title of the article is "IS DANIEL STURRIDGE THE CAUSE OF CHELSEA'S WOES", regardless of what the article says the title already carries a negative connotation.
Daniel Sturridge has been converted from a striker to a winger. He is 22. He is our top scorer. He has 7 assists and has had the most shots at goal. It's not so much of his decision making as it is him just being greedy. And you know what, if he wasn't that greedy we would have hardly scored at all this season!
He has scored more goals than our other strikers put together. And made more assists. Looks like he's doing pretty well to me. And all at 22.
Lampard has been shocking. Torres has been shocking. Kalou and Malouda have been shocking. Bosingwa is just dire. And here we are entertaining a carp article trying to undermine one of our key players of this season.
Give the lad a break.
he has 7 assists, yeah selfish.
