No surprise really, Robins left due to failure to agree a budget for the team, as Barnsley look to cut costs. Clearly the amazing deal the Shack was given at Barnsley, was in fact beyond them.

Maybe this says something for our wage policy?

Sigh....

You could not afford a deal for Shackell because you blew your budget on Sharp..

Shacks is leaving for more wonga...as will Sharp in a couple of weeks.

And that budget was what exactly? Seeing as you know so much like.

A fraction of what McLeish will blow...and you're commenting on a Donny/Barnsley debate because....

Spartacus - not correct.

Sharp was paid for with extra funding put up by our directors and not out of the team budget. He also accepted a wage cut to play for us (see links below)

Shack and Sharp, as far as I understood things, both had similar situations when their loan periods finished with Donny. Both had offers from us, and both were free to look around at other clubs. In the end, Barnsley made him an offer that was greater than our valuation, so we correctly pulled out of the race for his signature.

In hindsight, whether what happened was right or wrong for both clubs is debatable. We certainly missed his strong presence in defence last season. You signed him, but are now selling him to balance the books. You will certainly miss him.

Personally, I prefer our approach. We made an offer that fitted in our budget. He said mo thank you. Fair enough.

SOD Wanted Shackell, Elliot Ward and Matt Mills, and the fans say he can't sort out the defence

Lanzo, your spot on there. If he had the choice he would have kept Millsy but thats the name of the game, money.

No news on Le Fondre yet, street cred wavering but still in the balance!

I see Mr Hill has moved quickly to bolster the Tykes with two players from his former club Rochdale, one a midfielder and another who is a defender, presumably to replace the Shack.

Alexmyh .Millers have just signed a replacement striker.
Be patient

Lanzo,
if you get this one right there will be a stewards inquiry and then flogged with a soggy lettuce until you give the source of the info.

To be fair, I think Mills leaving Donny was more Mills' idea than JR's

Could the Rotherham replacement be for the kid who has gone to Bristol City?

Le Fondre is a free agent and has stated he want's to play at a higher level so I guess he is considering offers and his agent is haggling for the best deal. He is proven at Lg2 level but it is a two division jump and defenders are bigger and faster (except for Donny's )

Le Fondre isn't a free agent, got another year left on his contract.

Re Spartapus...Because I live in Doncaster, and take an active interest in my local club. Is that ok? Run along to your relegation bound boards.
