Agree with most. I would add Paynter, Bromby, Rachubka and Parker to that.

I really like White. Connolly is boring but a worthy squad player.

templar yes yes it is. happy new year to you aswell.

yorkie ofcourse paynter and rachubka must go aswell. nah id wield the axe on connolly because he is is not intimidating enough as a defender.

parker and bromby id put as backup... after the subs bench. cos they are leeds lads and not too bad.

Brown

He's a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER he's not meant to be creative. Ok lets sell Lonergan because he's not scoring

Connolly is one of our most consistent players, that's something most agree on.

anti even a defensive midfielder should look to get the team moving and passing. thats one side of his job. distribute from defense. he does nothing.

the fact is connolly is just not intimidating. a winger would be rubbing his hands in glee.

I must admit, Connolly was a good signing.

Sorry but Connolly should be no where near that list.

he is a solid fullback who does the job week in week out.
So what if he is not fancy, can't think of any single player in this league I would rather have there if I am honest

A defensive midfielder can have many roles, some are asked just to be an advanced CB.
But you weren't there today. I know because Brown was actually distributing. He actually pulled off one cracker of a 70 yard pass at one point. He broke up their play and got the ball to the more creative players.

ok if he played well today credit to him. two major things go against him - his wages and age. not really worth it.

Question anti.

If he did by all accounts not play too badly, do you think he has it in him to play like that week in week out?

So m.o.p..... What exactly are Brown's wages?

Against Southampton on the first day of the season I think we all saw a player that was past it that was just going to get sent off several times a season and cost us. He gave away silly fouls.

I do believe, hand on heart, in every game he was played for us since the Nottingham Forest game, he has played well. Some games better than others, but generally, he has been a decent player, breaking up the other teams play with some sometimes cracking tackles. He isn't going to sprint past and meg a few defenders, but he has started to battle for the ball, win it and distribute it to the more creative players. I think at the start of the season he saw it as a bit of a joke, but he's realised he can't walk into the team like he may have been able to do in his prime 5 or 6 years ago, but he's realised he has to work hard and play well for his position and he has began to play well and I do truly believe he is deserved of his place in the team, with a fully fit midfield I think Grayson will struggle to drop one to the CM's, unless Clayton's lack of form continues.
Clayton is slightly defensive but can roam and be creative, but with Brown partnering with Clayton in central midfield with 3 attacking midfielders may provide us with some good defensive covering without losing attacking ability with Howson, Snodgrass and another player in attacking midfield,

I have ideas of who could go there but that position is very much open to be won, Nunez could quite possibally play well in an attacking midfield role, but then so could White with Pugh at LB although from when I've seen White get forward I think he is too defensive minded and he looks to play the ball instead of take a shot. Whereas Nunez is the total opposite, just shoots and when he loses the ball he never, ever chases after it.

I disagree about his age, if a player is playing well then they deserve to play. Are you telling me you wouldn't take some of the ancient players that are still playing for England just because they're cracking on a bit. I know Brown isn't of that quality but you're saying you won't have him because of his age. If they play well, age isn't a problem.

Brown was best player against Reading.

Thanks anti.

And to be honest I agree with you about a players age.
Sad thing is that there are loads of people on here who won't ever admit he can possible have a good game. They have made up their minds already based on his age and his performance in the first game
