Midfield Lacks Creativity?

i think we our team has plenty of creativity. this misconception stems from our team - other than RVP - not being clinical enough at finishing. we've seen numerous clear cut chances going to waste the last few weeks.

A creative midfielder does more than create chances he calls for the ball, he moves around and dictates the play something Ramsey has failed to do imo. This is the reason we see the ball played across the back four for the majority of the first half in most of our home games this wastes so much time and makes it much harder than it is to get 3 points

We lack creativity. And statistics prove it. We have only scored 16 goals in 10 games at home. Thats terrible for the style we play. We haven't scored more than one goal at home for 5/6 games now leading to dropped points against poor teams.

All TOP teams which play possession football require that player. Man City have Silva/Nasri, Spurs have Modric/Van der Vaart, Chelsea have Mata, Barca have 3, Messi, Iniesta and Cesc, Even Mourinho has Ozil and Kaka as sub.

Our system also requires those players. We are setup to play 4-3-3. That formation is setup for a deep lying midfield player to be free to create and score in equal amounts. At the moment when RVP drops deeper to create, the second deeper creative player is unable to run beyond him to create the final pass or put the ball in the net.

Ramsey was supposed to play in that role. But his finishing is not great and his creativity is not there in his game at the moment. 1 goal and 4 assists in 17 apps is poor for the style we play. The style is specifically designed to give maximum amount of ball to that player in the most amount of space. For example, the ball that set Theo free yesterday was on the whole time he was on the pitch. But Ramsey only found him once. Thats the problem!

Now Arteta was supposed to be that player when Arsene bought him. But he is not as creative as Arsene thought and so has slotted him in as cover for Wilshere instead. Wilshere is not that creative either. Thats why Arsene marked him out for that deeper link player role last season. We lack that creativity in the squad.

Although a lot is made of that Gotze or Hazard are being bought to play on the wing, in my opinion, Arsene is actually trying to find that deeper no.10. The Dennis Bergkamp, Cesc role is very important to us and that player is lacking in our squad. Who knows Oxlade maybe that player in 3/4 years. But he isn't there now! And Ramsey needs a couple of years of development as well.

I agree Jenius

Jenius - good to see you still imparting your considerable knowledge and wisdom, I totally agree.

We have very little creativity at all, even with Wilshere. I am glad you mentioned Arteta because people assumed he would be that creative link, but he is more of a neat and tidy player, he won't thread through balls to anyone.

We struggle to break teams down, we create lots of chances against poor sides, but when it matters we really struggle

I think Justin answered my question quite well: someone to control the midfield and dictate play. Perhaps in that sense, I agree that we lack creativity but will still create a lot of chances and are starting to get lots of possession per game albeit against so-called 'lesser' sides.
