Just because he is better than Downing doesn't make him any good.

Being better than Downing isn't something to be especially proud of mate.

so now, we rate our players on how they are compared to liverpool's? how the mighty have fallen.

fact is, he has been terrible all season, 4 maybe 5 decent games. at most.

and now he wants a wage rise, how disgraceful. send him to train with the reserves.

I agree, Walcott is getting to much stick. Here's another interesting stat.

Last 18 months - Walcott: 46 Starts 15 Goals 16 Assists.
Gareth Bale: 54 Starts 18 Goals 10 Assists

Downing/Kuyt/Maxi Rodriguez/ Aaron Lennon.

I would even include Nani in that, he's been far wasteful than our lad !

As people above have said, Downing is not the aspiration for Theo. Compare him with the likes of Nani, Bale, Johnson and other top wingers in the league.

but the amoun bale does for the team is crazy. walcott hides for 80 minutes, gets the ball every now and again, gets takled. or if he does stumble past his player, does a terrible cross, that is bouncing everywhere, and luckily the best striker in the world is there to fix it.

i've actually been watching bale a lot, the lad is sooooooooo good at crossing. it's almost TOO perfect at times.

Who's that ginger-haired CB that used to play for Utd when he was younger, but plays for Wigan now? Think he might have had a stint at Sunderland for a while..?

Anyway, Squillaci is way better than him, so stop being so mean to Seb all the time will you, you flippin' rotters.

which is what you want from a winger. we got the wrong one from southampton

posted on 1/1/12

I only have compared him to an opposing winger that is 1st choice for one of our rivals, and you ultimately should be at his peak by now, 27.

I'm using this example to EMPHASISE Walcott's age! Sometimes we too easily forget that, as he has been in top flight/limelight since 2006!!

He is only going to get better, and build his confidence.

There are just too many critisms in this world.

Lex, sounds like Paul McShane, but he is at Hull not Wigwam.

How many of those goals/assists came in rapid spurts though? Were we cruising at the time in the game like going 4-0 up against Newcastle or did he pitch in with a goal/assist at a time in a game where we really needed it?

Pretty sure I already know the answer to this.

why would he only get better? he's been with us for 6 years and has barely improved.

Udinese, over 2 legs. Walcott along with Szczesny was the difference.

That's the chap D'J.

Squillaci > McShane.

It's so funny Walcott will score tomorrow and everybody will be saying he is great again. I don't think I've seen an opinion on a specific player change as much as it does with Theo.

i'll change my mind if he can sting 3 performances together.

That is just the type of player Theo is, Batmanu.

One moment of excellence is all they need to change a game (see Udinese 2nd leg...)

At the end of the day Theo Walcott is just a 21st century Perry Groves.

But on his day, Perry Groves frightened the life out of defenders. Just ask Alan Hansen and his Liverpool friends!

Walcott can be good at times but far too often he just flops.

Ok games like Udinese he played good. Before the City game he was good as well.

But after one bad game, he becomes useless. He then needs another 10 games to get his confidence back plays good for a couple then has a bad one, and then wait another 10 games. This cycle happens too often.

I think he may eventually become good when he's 25 or something. He is one of those players.

I think we got a good deal in Chamberlin how ever. Wenger doesn't want him to end up as another Theo, hence using him slowly.

I think we did miss out on Bale. His end product is the best there is.

8bit... won't happen. With players like that you have to put up with 89 minutes of mediocrity for 1 minute of game changing class.

Arshavin and Torres are exactly these types of players.
