Yep hes far better than any CB we have at the club just now

not sure you could afford his wages tbh

posted on 2/1/12

It depends on how much he wants ibrox. If he's on 30k+ it would be conceivable for him to drop to 25k to get regular football and a longer contract.

A good season at a club who would give him first team football could get him a better contract.

Unless Wigan or a similar club come in for him(Who would offer him a similar contract as Celtic) I can see him going back to Spain.....I certainly can't see us signing him.

"not sure you could afford his wages tbh"

You know nothing about Celtic's finances so give it a rest.

The story appeared in the Daily Mail a few days ago without quotes. Can't see there being anything in it.

Was the bid for Diawara from us. Dont think we really need Cuellar. Better to get someone a bit younger as he is nearly 31 and even if that means waiting until the summer then so be it. A new CB is only really necessary for Europe. Also there is a good chance we couldnt afford to / wouldnt pay his wages

No just no. He's been a bench warmer for too long.

doubt you could afford 25k a week either zilla. It is scotland we play in.

I read the other day that Eck is going to offer him an extension on the back of him getting back in the team regularly.

Again, you know nothing so why don't you just keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.

Ibrox, Ledley is widely reported to be on that and Brown would be on that or more too.

It might well be Scotland we play in but Celtic still make good money from season tickets, TV cash(Sky, Local networks, Celtic TV), merchandise, Nike and other sponsors....As well as European gate money this season.

A thought you were going out IE?

No problem from me if Celtic decide to sign Cuellar. A 31 year-old centre back is a different proposition than a 33 year-old 'spped merchant looking for a pension top-up.

Says the dobber who claimed on another thread we spent £4m on Juarez

You know nothing child.

===================
There would be, but I believe we've got less of a wage bill than we did when WGS was in charge.

We've got a lot of young players who would not be on anything near that. I'd say Brown and Ledley would be the top earners at the moment.

We've also unloaded a defender to Southampton for over a mil which free's up a space, a wage and gives us some cash to play with over and above what we would have to spend in January.

Jelavic,McGregor,Davis....£11-£12M max and it would need to be cash up front to satisfy Whyte/White..Celtic could see the season out quite comfortably with the current squad

Cuellar or big Dan?

harry - taken from the herald :

Mexican Efrain Juarez
moves to Celtic in £4m
deal Michael Grant and Ronnie Cully
Celtic have completed the
signing of Efrain Juarez, the
Mexico internationalist, from
UNAM Pumas, subject to a
medical and work permit.
The full-back, who can also play
in midfield, has signed a four-
year deal for a fee believed to be
in the region of £4m and
becomes Neil Lennon’s fourth
summer signing after Charlie
Mulgrew, Cha Du-Ri and Joe
Ledley.

Fair to say if we were relatively close to signing him, then there's no doubt Celtic could afford to. Sayin that, wonder how Kayal will feel about another high earner strollin in the door....

posted on 2/1/12

If you're stupid enough to believe we paid £4m for Juarez then you just carry on.

much did you pay then harry?
