Sailors leaving a sinking ship

posted on 21/6/11

The ship is sailing quite nicely now thanks.

The Head of Negative Football took a long walk off a short plank and calmed the waves of discontent.

His flag is nailed to to a tree on Learner Island.

Hurricane season is about to start on that little island just off Witton-by-the-Sea.

A new dynamic, fast thinking, head of direction will be appointed soon.

Any sailors allowed to leave the ship will be surplus to requirements.

Or an offer too good to be refused.

Well there are pros and cons....

Yes McLeish has gone, as much as he has good points the tactics and team selection he stuck with and would not change (even off the bench) would had made us struggle anyway.

We would have had to replace Jerome, with Larsson going maybe a pair of wingers would also mean better football (but this season we had Strikers and Wingers who could have done a better job on paper who could not get games under McLeish).

Negatives are not the fact we are in Fizzy Pop, thats not a problem as we could see more open attacking football.

The problem is we had a good nucleus of a team to build upon (Foster, Dann, Johnson, Gardner) and others who could do well given more time and chances inc Michel.

Relegation means a big step backwards, we was on verge of being stable another season and we would have been more stable like a Fulham, Bolton or Stoke etc.

Relegation and McLeish leaving means players will not want to stay and i am not talking about Gardner, Foster, Dann and Johnson but others aswell.

Can we ever replace like for like a Dann, Johnson, Foster and Gardner for £18M (cost less due to addons not being met so about £15) i dont think we can for that price if promoted.

But then the other Problem is promotion and not so much promotion and playing in Fizzy pop again but what happens if thats the case financially

As we really have concerns over the true financal backing or stability that Yeung and Co have.

I noticed on his talk yesterday to the journos that this [the joining of Vile] was an opportunity he couldn't miss.
Does that not mean then that even had we stayed up he would have still pulled the pin and jumped ship?
I am amazed everytime i see Big Feck with his big grin and C&B tie as i really did think he was a stalwart and true gent who would stick things out through thick and thin.
I know it's going over old ground but on one hand i am so glad he's gone but on the other i am miffed at his cavalier attitude basically to the fans.

"Sailors leaving a sinking ship"

I think we all know the saying is "RATS leaving a sinking ship"!
As for Barry the Crab, take Jimmy the Knee with you!
Both have proven themselves to be not good enough for the Premier League,by getting us relegated,as far as I'm concerned!
And the same goes for Big F'Eck McJudas, although I will enjoy seeing vile relegated immensely at next season's end!

Let's not turn on the players yet until we know where they stand.
I would not think for one minute that any of them would/could have talked McJudas from leaving.
With that said and now he has gone, it is no different to a manager taking his backroom staff with him which for some players includes them.
If Ferg wanted to leave then i would bid him a fond farewell because he has played his heart out, if not for us then certainly for his manager.
By Feck going to Vile, there is probably little or no chance of Ferg being up to the mark or being welcome at Vile Park so that will show you what McJ thinks of his players deep down.
As for Fadd, he never really shone until just before his injury and he probably is one of these players who needs fellow Scots around him to gee him along, so if he wants to go, it is no different and far less un-gratifying than when Upson left after his injury stint and didn't want to play for us on his comeback.

It is the same on our page of BBC Sport Football... Headline story with McLeish gloating that he is the right man for the vile... I suppose in a way he is... due to his lack of moral fibre.
Anyway, why they think Blues fans are interested in this drivell is beyond me...

With Ferguson he dont deserve any stick i think considering his cost and what he has given us over 2 seasons he has been a very good signing. We dont know if Michel woudl have been better or if Ferguson was dropped if we would have done better as we never tried.

From his performances he did well to me, well enough for his place its not his or other players fault we was relegated McLeish is the main culprit.

WITH MCLEISH I do thnik that after he got us 9th and then Won the Cup he knew his CV was starting to look good. maybe a CONSPIRACY but if he wanted to go to bigger club now he proved he can get Blues 9th and Win Trophies then getting relegated would maybe had meant the sack for him so a pay off, then he would be free to talk to other clubs.

WHAT GETS TO ME IS THIS

Had after we got relegated (so when McLeish said he was commited to stay and before we sacked his chief scout).

Had players like Johnson, Foster, Dann and Gardner put in a transfer request the week after we went down (like how say Tevez put one in, like how N'Zogbia did) i am sure that McLeish would be FURIOUS he would question the players loyalty and bring up that players commited to the club given a chance and want to leave as soon as Relegated HE WOULD SAY THERES LITTLE LOYALTY IN FOOTBALL!

But then is that not the same as what he had done

Banjo,

This is where McJudas' reputation has nosedived. Not just in the Midlands but across the football world.

Fans of both teams have questioned his morality and his integrity.

After his speech, his honesty is in question.

How on earth can he contemplate filing for constructive dismissal when he says how the lure of managing Vile was too great.

Even reading that smacks of a fellow who has either been illegally approached or took a gamble and quit in the forlorn hope of gaining immediate employment elsewhere.

Obviously there must have been some contact.

Pannu tried to say as much.

McJudas was reportedly holidaying in Corcisa. Learner has a villa (vile) there.

This is where the two+two comes in.

The more that comes out in the coming days, I feel the stronger comes Blues position.

Vile would be well advised to cough up an agreed fee now or (when, not if) found guilty, the penalty will be much more severe.

I think that he was probably upset with one or two things with the board but had a contract albeit with reduced salary. when houllier left he probably like a lot of people assumed that villa had someone in mind eg Hughes, Jol, Martinez etc and that there was nothing doing. As the candidates fell away, particularly Martinez the position changed and with the lure of more money, premier league football and the fact that he would have to face another hard championship season with the added pressure of an instant return being expected if he stayed, he opted to go.

if there were issues for a constructive dismissal argument then he could have resigned at any point. The reality is most people don't do anything until they have a replacement position lined up. If the job hadn't have come up then he would still be here and nonne would have heard any mention of constructive dismissal.

He's had a pay rise and I suspect on balance a job which may ultimately be easier than trying to get Blues up with little resources and in the knowledge that his style of football is not endearing to many.

I have a feeling that his last three players: King, Burke and Gomis will be very good for the club and that they and the new manager, hopefully Hughton , will be the positive we get out of this.

posted on 21/6/11

Yeah something is a bit fishy with who the whole situation went down.

I cant see how he can constructive dismissal now!

But as far as him being tapped up, or knowing before he quit the Villa job would have been there for him, its how can we prove a thing

He has gone we will get some money for him and at the end of the day , if the board sacked him and replaced him with Hughton many of us would see it as a needed positive change as i am not sure Ecks negative football would have got us up and i am not sure many fans would have put up with another season of it anyway.

True Banjo,

If someone had said we would have a new manager like Chris Houghton and a few £Million in the bank to compliment the change AND Eck had flipped his lid to go to the house of Vilers.....

I dont think anyone would have put a bet on it.
