The likes of Swansea give us hope that football playing teams can enter and remain in the PL, and drive out the hoofball FCs into the lower reaches.
What a load of rubbish, people say this every year.
Makes it more interesting right
I dont care as long as im seeing a competitive league.
Its increased competition and declining standards at the top IMO.
If you compare the Utd, Chelsea & Arsenal teams of the last 10 years with now, the quality is lower.
Young vs Ronaldo
Jones vs Scholes
Cesc v Arteta
28 Year old Drogba vs 34 year old Drogba
United are somewhat in transition with a lot of younger players coming through.
CFC are aged and need a major overhaul to replace Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cech, Cole, Anelka, Malouda in the next 3 seasons. they are all passed their peak.
Arsenal are in transition but its self-imposed. Instead fo building they have sold and replaced with average.
these teams are all weaker while the likes of City and Spurs have strengthened.
BUT at the same time, the loss of the fear factor makes it harder for these big teams. Opposition (mid to low table) used to almost write-off getting anything from these games buyt now feel like they have a chance. Utd would win games even before kick off in seasons gone by.
So its a weakening of the traditional top 4, a strengthening of the chasing pack and a change in mentality & belief of much of the rest that has caused greater competition.

I did say I think the league is weaker. However, it makes it much more interesting.
The boredom factor of United and Chelsea every season was getting very tedious.
It should be a case in any competive league, that each and every team has a reasonable chance of beating whom they are playing. Not just turning up as been the case in recent years for many teams, at say places like Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
We'll win the Premiership within 3 seasons
AreaClouded - Арсенал глупы.

Not exactly rubbish, the British teams have hardly covered themselves with glory in the European competitions this season have they.
And when you get a lot of teams chasing players like Bent, Zamora and Cahill as must have buys, it does not take that much to see that standards are indeed on the wane.
Only my opinion, but I think the standard of the prem is defintely on the wane.
Correct. Tis the reason you're near the top

In seasons gone by we would actually be league leaders at this stage but we are still 5 pts adrift with a game in hand.
In this respect you could argue that City have raised the standard bar (at least on the domestic front) and only Utd have taken the challenge head on with us hanging on in there.
Maybe it is case of the top 4 now becoming a top 2 with Spurs being the most improved out of the rest and Arsenal and Chelsea falling off slightly.
"Only my opinion, but I think the standard of the prem is defintely on the wane."
Not at all.
<Citeh> have exploded the Sky 4 with a new and more wealthy Sugga Daddy on the scene. Teams like Spurs have been on improvement creep for the past 5 yrs.
And now the Sky 4 is under fundamental attack.
The Poool look like season 3 with no CL piggie trough.
And if Spurs push on, another Sky 4 fave will be colouring in all the thursdays on their 2012/13 calendars.
"And if Spurs push on" and win the PL.
Not to be confused with : Spurs will finish in the PL top 4 this season (so sayeth the Oracles : LAA/LAC/LAL - beware the stats of Jan !!! ) .
