I think if we let in goals like that it doesn't make him a good defender! I've backed Luiz through all the mistakes he has made because all of them aren't signs of a bad defender, they were just a bit rash.
But the Villa one, along with the United-Hernandez goal last season were just all down to Luiz simply not knowing how to defend. Put it this way, you can guarantee Jones wont make the same mistake again, but Luiz doesn't know the difference between a good and a bad position and that is THE fundamental principle of defending.
Oh and just to clarify, I don't and have never really rated Jones at all.
Luiz is not at fault there. I disagree, it was 100% the midfield.
As for Mikel, his long range passing stats are far less convincing.
Stas tell you all you need to know, Luiz is a potential world beater and an excellent prospect.
De Gea was statistically the best keeper in the prem up to about 3 weeks ago.
I don't understand how you cannot see how Luiz is at fault. Even if the midfield player is free, that doesn't mean Petrov should be free as well!
I really cannot believe what you're saying. I promised myself I wouldn't resort to name calling but can you please try and explain how a player can receive the simplest of passes, wide open 15yards from goal when both CB's are back and only have him to cover. How can that situation arise and it be "100% the midfield[s]" fault?
You simply cannot let the striker get the ball into his feet in that position, if Luiz had been stood 5 yards over the pass would never have been on and the runner would have had to do something far better in order to fashion a chance.
because he wasnt. luiz is a great defender you plank.
Wow you waited all this time to respond with that?
