A tired effort, I'm sure you'll agree

Well it is palace after all, not like you had to do charlton instead.

Forgiven.

Not one of your best 666, but you continue to amuse.
Expected a little more stick for Simon Jordan, who I once thought was Robbie Savage's brother.

Aj you've got the biggest laugh from me with one line quality!
666 it was a bit like last season for derby started slowly promised much then just dragged on! No offence intended I am usually quite a fan of the handy guide to's

Feel free to add your own hilarious 'facts' then, SMSM2!

I'm not sure if it's my post-Christmas lethargy or the fact Palace are a bit "meh" but it just isn't coming to me today at all... I feel like Junior must in the dug-out.

Not a bad effort but the 1861 club folded, they played at the famous Crystal Palace (hence the name) where the FA cup finals and cricket matches were played (London County captained by WG). Also thanks for the tip off about the result I will go and put the house equity on it this afternoon. Price did ok at Millwall but was a little unlucky against Leicester. Must agree about Clod though we used to have bets when he played about which minute he would be sent off in. Moxey is out injured at the moment but may come back for the cup, he is a decent left back and has done well for us.

666,ever thought of contacting Nige with a view to a temp job swop. You could give it a bash in the dug-out and he could have a go at your "piles".

And it ain't money!

It'd be untenable, Watnall, unfortunately

Whilst I would undoubtedly oversee a dramatic upturn in both results and style on the pitch, and am eminently qualified by virtue of my living locally and that, I very much doubt Junior could do my job as it involves long hours of standing around, doing nothing, watching other people toil.

Oh. Right.

Must be hard to find anything interesting to write about anywhere in sarf east landan. Other than they are probably the only club named after a green house there isn't anything.

Using the same etymology perhaps the red dogs could change their name to Mr Doughty's Old Potting Shed.

As usual, I'll steal your best bits for the post-match OOE, 666.

Just as soon as you write some.

I see that 666 has been writing Wikipedia articles again as well ...

"Palace have a long and successful record of being on the receiving end of favourable refereeing decisions, the most notable coming on Easter Monday 1989. Facing rivals Brighton & Hove Albion at Selhurst Park, a world record 5 (five) penalties were awarded in the game by referee Kelvin Morton, four of them to Palace, for offences including handball, wearing socks that were a bit faded, sneezing without putting a hand over your mouth, and failing to return a library book on time. Brighton's penalty was awarded under the little-used Football Association rule which states that no more than four penalties shall be awarded to one team without a consolation spot kick being given to the opposing side."

I wonder if Bailey will feature. The Mirror is reporting that Palace are after him.

'Hilarious facts'....

Laugh?
.....I didn't think I'd ever start....

Since there is no 'tumbleweed' icon, I will have to throw a few of these

Just to further a previous point, there was lots of teams called "Crystal Palace" in 1861 made up of workers at the Crystal Palace but the team we know and love today was formed in 1905.

To be fair you have touched on a couple of very true points. Dougie Freedman was a goal scoring Palace legend whereas Davis.....not so much. But Price and Moxey are doing well on the way to us winning the Carling Cup!

Like many others it seems, I also tend to prefer 666s earlier, funnier work, but maybe this eschewing of cheap laughs, or indeed any laughs at all, is a sign of growing maturity.

It's heartening to see him breaking out in an entirely new direction at last. I salute him.

So does this mean that you're going to lose on Saturday in order to concentrate on the other cup?

I've just discovered how old I am.

I always eschewed the rather pathetic and contrived 'Eagles' nickname for Crystal Paralysis in favour of the traditional 'Glaziers'.

Now I discover that 'Glaziers' is described as 'obsolete'.

A bit like me then.

Crystal Palace was actually named when an eight year old girl opened her present to find a subueto set.

"I wanted a Crystal Palace"

"sorry darling, but the kit is a lovely lilac and purple".

She felt much better after that and the name stuck.

Spartacus...............The real brainteaser would be finding anything interesting to write about Derby.
And no, it wasn't a greenhouse. It was a glass building constructed to host the greatest display of invention and innovation from all over the world at the time. Should Derby have been heard of at the time then i'm sure the town would have been in with a shout...............................not.

What do you expect? You know just how fragile and delicate those cheese biscuits are.

They are great at first, but by the end of the packet, they have crumbled into dust.

A bit like their season.
