Afridi you know me I always start negative but we all know what UAE is like being a batsman paradise so it will be 1-0 to either team.

Kash, is that an indirect way of you saying, "I want to change my predication?" 1-0 pakistan then?

posted on 6/1/12

i just cannot see how pakistan are gonna score enough runs to win against a good team when they are going at 2-2.5 an over.

unless the other teams rolls over and dies and that won't happen with england. way too good for that.

Peter due to the slowness of the wicket even England will struggle to score above 3 runs an over. Pakistan will stiffle them with 3 spinners but I do agree that Pakistan do need to score quicker.

Nah Afridi if i was going to put my money on one team it will be England.

Agree, england start as clear faviourites. However, they'll have to tone down on their run-rate compared to the last 3/4 series, do they have the patience? I think a few of the england middle-order are abit hot-headed and if bogged down by ajmal and rehman, it could get interesting.

i don't think cookie and trotty are worried about strike rates, not in the slightest.

and you will see england score at 3-4 rpo against the pakistan quicks if they want to. too many loose deliveries.

straussy can also bat slow without worry. belly and kp too.

I'll say 2-0 England. I don't see it being a steamroller job, I think it will be fairly close.

I also said that about the India series and the last Ashes series as well....

I think it'll be 1-0 to England. I think this will be our tightest series for a while and will be very testing, i just expect us with how we're playing to come out on top, just.

No-one going for a drawn series I see?

Also, who thught england would hammer the aussies in auss last year? Not many. Who thought england would hammer the indians last year? Not many. Who thought that aussies would beat the indians so easily in this test series? Not many. Who thought New zealand would pull of a drawn vs the aussies? Not many.................I could go on....... who thinks pakistan have a chance vs england? Not many.........You get me?

A draw could be a good shout given how the wickets have played there. 20 wickets will not be easy for either side. Ajmal is such a trump card for Pak. If he bogs us down we could get more draws or loose the odd test with how we cope with spinners keeping the pressure on with men round the bat.

by the law of averages afridi14, england will walk this.

Peter,

Depends how you term the “law of averages” I suppose. If it’s based on ranking, I agree England should stroll it……….. If it’s based on current form, it will be tight. If it’s based on England’s record/history on sub continental wickets, then England certainly will not walk it…. If it’s based on Pakistanis record on flat tracks, then the law of average probably suggests Pakistan could well nick it. All about context and interpretations…..

the law of averages means that what we are expecting to happen should actually happen for once.

we can agree that england struggle on sub continental wickets, and against high quality spin bowling, but england are a well oiled machine these days and their bowlers will get what little the pitch offers.

the batsmen have that obdurate quality when required and they'll stick around to make the runs.

i'm glad that DRS will be involved as it is absurd that it has been missing for some series.

posted on 6/1/12

I'm glad that DRS is there too cos Pak have 3 spinners that attack the pads so it will be handy for them to have the technology.

the bigger question is, how many matches would really yield results. And the series could go in any team's favour. Agreed that Pakistan have recently beaten mid-tier teams but that helped build up the confidence that this team was missing for some time. As they say winning is a habit, and that both these teams have considering their recent games. England does have an edge in quality as they have too many class players in their squad but we all agree the conditions are to suit Pakistan. I am actually surprised to see the confidence of some English fans as I have seen predictions like 2-0, 3-0. To my mind this series will be equally contested, hope unsporty pitches do not spoil this highly anticipated series, I mean 1-0 to Pakistan would satisfy me .

what I have liked about this Pakistan team the most is, we are not depending on any Akhtar, Amir, Afridi or any one player for that matter to win us the games, all the players have been contributing their part and that results in a good team effort in the end, I have high hopes from my team to win this series.

Much the same way England have been playing for the last 2 years.

i think a draw most probably 0-0, or 1-1. I see it being for a team who loses the first test as it would be very hard to come back. So the momentum should be with the team who manages to win the first match in the test series. But reckon England are favouraties to start with because they are the no. 1 team, but will definately be a good contest

I seem to recall i said i might be 'tempted' to say 3-0 but never actually predicted that. I'm a little concerned we have a few injuries still niggling away at some of Englands bowlers, so I may well qualify that to 2-0 to England

I think England are the best test playing team in the world at the moment and that is not going to change any time soon. However because of the slow wickets one of the games could be a draw, so I will go for 2-0 England.

When it comes to the one dayers and the T20's it will be a lot closer.

I`ll go for 1-1

posted on 6/1/12

Just for the sake of it I'll go 2-1 Pakistan. A series where both teams will just beat each other up on the field meaning bowling each other out for low scores then making high scores.

People think this is a track with the words draw little all over on it, nothing for bowlers etc... Well if you show aggression then someone should win, if you don't then expect a draw.

posted on 6/1/12

well if thats(agression) the case amir, then lets not forget our team is lead by misbah. Lol
