I think the Guardian journo fancies him. Proper wants to take him home and that!

no substance in these rumours. Napoli would never sell in January. and in the summer Cavani will have the choice of every top club in Europe. If we could get him it would me a massive signing as we desperately need an effective centre forward, but I won't hold my breath.

Newcastle might sell if they can have Carroll back maybe

He's slight lost some value though...£33.75m might sway them..

Then Torres can go back to Pool for £48.5

I think Ba is better and premiership tested and would come cheaper

Capello

Leave it - not happening... (my theory above has more chance)

Cavani would be a brilliant signing for us.

He's comfortably ahead of Demba Ba imo, Ba's a good playr but seems hes suddenly become massivly overrated

Ba is good, but certainly nowhere near better than Edison Cavani, that is ridiculous, plus his knee is due to explode anytime in the next year or so. I like Demba Ba, but signing him would be stupid.

LSTD

To be fair he was showing real promise late last term & I put him in my dream team then...

I think he's the real deal

I think hes a good player definitly but imo Cavani is very close to world class, i watch napoli regularly as i like a few of their players and their attack is amazing with Hamsik Cavani and Lavezzi. Id take any 3 of them for Chelsea and imo Cavani is the best of the lot, hes got everything Ba has and more

I agree completely with LSTD. Anyone who thinks Demba Ba ia better than Edison Cavani needs their head examined. Premier league players get massively over rated.

Not seen Cavani myself

Only seen Cavani a bit but he looks very good.

Whether Cavani would adapt well to English football is another thing.

We´ve seen far too many South Americans not settle in English football so that would be my only concern about Cavani.

Cavani is of the build and high intensity style to easily settle in England and the lifestyle in London is different to that of the northern clubs so settling in a cultural sense is much easier. Again, I don't see it happening, but he would be top of my list from any forwards in world football. And we certainly need a reliable, dynamic forward.

that wouldnt concern me so much, hes been playing in europe regularly for 4-5 years and has the pace and strength to come in and deal with the prem. He's not so much the Aguero/Suarez type who use their skill and movement to get them through games, he's got the strength to get involved in physical battles as well as the skill to beat players. I'm not sure who is relativly similar to from south america but he has the assets of drogba only he'll always put in full effort

LSTD - again, I agree. I'd describe him as a much taller carlos Tevez with a much better attitude.

If we´re looking for a big physical presence up front to replace Drogba then Bayern Munich´s Mario Gomez would be a good option.

He looks like a beast from what I´ve seen of him and he already has 24 goals in 25 appearences this season.

good player, but again not as good as Cavani. Cavani is more than just a physical presence where as Gomez is just a big goalscorer.

Of his type I prefer Falcao but Gomez is still a very good player.

i dont think we need a drogba type player, id tke any of cavani, falcao, gomez but imo cavani is the best option as he can compliment Lukaku upfront. Think theyd be a great partnership with Sturridge and Mata supporting them. Obviously cant see us ever playing 4-4-2 or 4-2-4 as this would be regularly.

Ba isn't overrated by most, still a good player whod do well with us but Cavani is much better I agree. I can't see either happening though <sigh> there was a time when Cavani was at Palermo and he said ideally he'd like to go to Juventus or Chelsea innthe future..
