Giggs is still a class player but Scholes is way past it.

Giggs is still a class player

......................

He is every now and again. For his last two matches, he has been awful.

He was not up for it yesterday.

I'd honestly rather see Giggs out on the left because he still has the ability to skip past a couple of players.

I always worry when he's playing in the centre because like yesterday, he can be sloppy in possession at times and I've noticed sometimes when he loses the ball he doesn't work hard enough to track back to try and win the ball back.

He was obviously called back due to our current injury crisis, I doubt he'll start many games to be honest. He gave the ball away for the 2nd goal and that wasn't a great welcome back sort of thing for him.

Hardly a vote of confidance in players like pogba and morrison.

That what Fergie is doing with our midfield may be wrong..

Why did we need legs yesterday? We were 3-1 up when Scholes came on against 10 men, all we needed to do was knock the ball about on the ground and let them chase it.

Or Ando or even Gibson for that matter.

Big difference between Scholes and Ando yesterday. Scholes wanting to play tippy tappy, Ando wanting to get the ball forward and play at a higher tempo, like we did in the first half.

In the 2nd half our passing was very poor, our players seemed miles away from eachother, making up play high balls out wide and down the middle to Rooney..

Phil,

Just because I don't panic or whine every time we have a few bad results, doesn't mean that I am obliviuos to our midfield shortcomings.

It is my belief that SAF has helped create them.

I think its clear to most of us that our midfield the past 2 or 3 seasons just hasnt been upto scratch, but does anyone actually think that Fergie will sign someone for that position, either now or in the Summer, also, does anyone else think that Scholes will carry on into next season?

Mancini was wise to that. What he done was get everyone back behind the ball, and break at speed when they had it.

Once they lost possession, our tempo was so slow, it allowed them to defend easily.

Playing at such a slow tempo, allowed City to do this.

2nd half was different because city understandibly went defensive and tried to catch us on the break, Then two mistakes from nani and scholes were punished. It wasnt a problem getting forward quickly because city were happy to concede territory and defend. Apart from the mistake i dont think scholes played badly. Nani and jones were very poor.

But scholes coming back isnt sending the right message to our opponents and our young players. Are we broke ? Is Fergie losing it ? Are we watching the beginning of the end ? This is whats crossing my mind

But they never needed to give the ball to City, we had the man advantage and didn't need to score. Seeing City chase shadows and run themselves into the ground trying to get the ball would have been much less nervy to watch.

Thunderkiss

We did not have the man advantage once we bought Scholes on. We had two playes out there with a combined age of 75.

That is why we didn't see City chasing shadows.

My opinion.

Never play Giggs and Scholes in the same game.

Giggs should never play centre mid ever again - stick to the left where you belong!

I am willing to give Scholes time to see if he can prove us wrong and still be an asset, more so than Giggs at the moment as i think Giggs gives away possession far too much.
Dont forget, this is his first game since his testimonial in August isnt it so jumping into a game against the most expensive team in football history, you gotta give him some slack.

Im excited to see how he does, he may surprise us all

Scholes is one of the best passers of a ball I've ever seen. When you don't need to run there's not many better players to have on the pitch, even at his age now.
We didn't see City chasing shadows because the players kept trying passes off the ground and running with the ball which were completely unneccessary

I think the old man was using his heart here and not his head.

i agree completely. either that or he just too tired to go through the growing pains required to get youngster and/or new players into the "united way". nothing has depressed me more in yrs more than this move.

that he felt no hesitance in putting him in the city game surely says everything about fergie. how many managers can take a coach off the bench and throw him on in his first game back? he does not even do that for our experienced players coming back from injury. it is such a joke tbh and highly annoying

Yes he is.

But he is a liability for the rest of his game.

It's just a stop gap in my opinion

If SAF believes Pogba, Morrison are not ready yet, it doesn't mean they won't be soon. I doubt he would buy someone if he thinks he has young players not too far from being ready.

He believes in the quality he has already and just because they are injured is no reason to panic.

Bringing Scholes back is no bad thing really, it isn't like he's been brought back to play first XI regularly and realistically it will only be till then end of the season.

Once Clevs is back and Ando is back up to speed, coupled with the fact Carrick is playing superb at the moment, we'll be fine.

Young getting fit and getting his early season form back will be a masive boost too.

Scholes won;t figure much and tbh I was surprised he got on the pitch yesterday, There was really no need for it

posted on 9/1/12

What it tell us is that SAF and his staff all agree that the likes of Morrison & Pogba are not good enough.

SAF has shown many, many time in the past that there is no room for sentiment, so if they were good enough they'd be in, as it is Giggs and Scholes are seen as better options. Therefore, we can only conclude that the kids are not what many say they are, otherwise they'd be playing

But that's my point, we didn't need to do anything but pass the ball about for 40 odd minutes, whole second half after they scored should have been turned into a game of piggy in the middle. If we'd been smarter with the ball we wouldn't have had to cling on right til the end.

I think hes just bringing him in to do a job for us, it didnt cost a thing did it, Fergie knows we have players come back from injury soon and maybe promoting young players sooner or later so why should he spend. Although it is pretty funny bringing Scholes back, at the same time its clever as he CAN still be good for us in some games and he didnt cost a penny
