I keep watching Vardy score goals and I think to myself 'We were after him'. Yet we have got Zola, Kee and Richards who have all done it at League 2 level. Two of those feature in the Top 7 scorers in the league despite being injured a lot of the time. I also think Fleetwood are paying Vardy a lot of money. So, I am fine with that one.
Amankwaah? Well, there was obviously something 'off the pitch' going on there that we do not know about and will never find out about. On a footballing level it was a no brainer - we should have signed him. So it must be something else and I will trust the judgement of the manager and the club on that one.
I think that on 31st January we will be better placed to assess what our ambitions are. Arguably one could say that without any signings we would be left with a group of players who got us in the play off berth.
The one thing that bothers me a little at the moment is the speculation that Ronnie might play at left back for a while because of Aaron being injured and Blanchett being bad. I can't work out what it is with Blanchett. From the moment I first saw him play (away at Southend I think) he struck me as being someone who was not on his game. He has a sort of languid, lazy, slow and disinterested looking style. But is it a style? Maybe it is a reflection of his mental or physical state at present. I think he was a near ever present with Crewe last season. Why let a young, regularly playing member of your squad go? Did Crewe see something?
Sorry Otep but i think Crewe saw nothing thats why we now have him , its great that we have a group of players that somehow have got us into a play off position but when it counts at the end of the season can you still see us in a playoff position with this team i for one do not think so unless we improve the defence and the midfield.
Had a conversation in march last year with a couple of ex brewers players ( playing higher league now)
They were suprised by Pesch's reluctance to sign players from the lower leagues.
Appears he's been offered quite a few that are now doing well elsewhere.
Woodhall at dagenham is one which just shows what i'm on about.
There are good players around in the lower leagues which we could sign and pay a lot less than one bench warmer we have.
His contacts within football don't seem that forthcoming with loan signings.
