WUM FILTER - Bad idea

banter is one thing... constant moronic 'wumming' is another.

Decent wumming takes intelligence, and is an art.... the fools we get constantly on the arsenal board just always come out with the same tired old cliches... after you read the same thing 100times it gets kind of dull.

There are people on here who do nothing remotely constructive, and don't wum to a level that is worth reading... so why not block them? I know i will do when it arrives.

What he said ^^^^^^

Just decends to childish rants and football does not even get talked about.

I don't even regard it as wumming.

I see you have come across Andy Suarez then.

And Batmanu, Peterbae, Arsene Wumger and Vengerbum, to name a few.

It will get rid of articles like this also, which is another great purpose of the filter. Keep things about sports, on a sports forum.

I agree with the OP

Admin1 said, with regards to a WUM filter "A lot of people have been asking for it".

Well, if a kid wanted ice-cream covered in smarties for every meal, would you give it to them?

I think, especially given the low numbers (compared to BBC606), that this could spell the begining of the end for JA606.

You'll end up with little cliques, slowly diminishing in numbers, until the site isn't viable. Not that any mention of where the funding comes from has ever been made.

I'm afraid my previous name and rep will go before me.

I agree people seem to forget that they have a free choice when it comes to wummer articles, chose to ignore or chose to comment its pretty simple i dont see what a button doing that for you will change lol.

i also agree people will be classed as wums just for a differing opinion, if everyone agreed nothing would bet done, the whole point of debate is to offer differing opinions and debate it to a common ground lol.

if i was to say henderson was over priced and a poor aquisition its just my opinion but im not a wum i just have an opinion its farcicl but i suppose those who need the button have little or no self control, thankfully i can have the power of mind to ignore articles that intrest me not.

Not convinced by the WUM filter, but TBH the WUMming on this site over the last few weeks has reached epic proportions - I think being able to post on any thread regardless of the old 3 min rule on 606 just means people jump from one to another randomly spouting nonsense...

If they had to spend their bullets wisely instead of spurting them out all over the place, they'd maybe think a bit more. The 3 minute rule was frustrating, but would probably help...

JSA, yes you and I are never going to be bessie mates on here, but I'd rather we were giving each other what for, than just talking with a select few people about the same dreary topics.

It's the variety of posters on here that make it interesting.

Oh, and JSA, you smell!

I disagree - yesterday I was having a nice little debate with two utd fans. In between our posts was a load of rubbish saying people only had one brain cell, spelling mistakes, etc, etc.

It's reminiscent of internet litter and the sooner it goes the better.

this isnt about an end to debate, and even wumming to a decent standard. this is about getting rid of mindless idiots who do nothing whatsoever except come out with tired cliches.

Obviously on the arsenal board at the moment its all about trophies. everyone seems to think they're being original, yet we have roughly 20 comments per day during my working day about it, plus at least a couple of articles... and that is every single day. It gets dull, and it's almost exclusively the same little group of people doing it.

The only people who think getting rid of useless wums is a bad thing are useless wums.

the wumming on this site is nothing short of embarrassing, at the least some of the ones on the old 606 were witty and intelligent. the lot on here just idiots.

The Wum filter is good idea, it paves the way for a decent debate.

It'll be the lunatics taking over the asylum!

I think there obviously isn't the Mod manpower to sort out the WUMs. Though the BBC used to let them run riot.

JSA, please stop, you'll make me blush, you big girl!

I dont know how exactly it will work this button anyone acre to explain.

does it just make the person selected invisible to you or what? can genuine posters be affected by abuse of the button how will it be regulated.

We didnt get hammered by Northampton. They were lucky and had all the big decisions. Just like all the big teams!

Plus it was 11 vs 12. Liverpool vs N'hampton and Roy Hodgson.

Admin1 said it will stop you seeing that persons posts AND stop them from posting on any of your threads.

The first bit seems ok, but at least let others decide if they want to acknowledge you on a thread or not.

Everyone's a Wum to some extent. Thats what makes this site so good.Have a bit of laugh at other clubs and then go home

posted on 22/6/11

Will it not lead to people having numerous multiple accounts, as at the end of the day all they want is a reaction most wums if they dont get it they will find a way to get it ?

posted on 22/6/11

Yep.

Where do you draw the line between WUM & Banter. Its subjective.

posted on 22/6/11

If I post an article, good quality wumming is welcome. But there are certain posters who have nothing to offer to the debate. I think it will improve articles depending on who is hosting them. If it's used wisely, then the debate will be balanced. If your going to use the filter for every wum, then it could get a bit boring.

posted on 22/6/11

It's funny how every person that disagrees with the filter is actually a WUM. Why is that now? This will eradicate WUM's from the forum, so you may as well start actually talking about football and having proper debate without annoying people now as you will then not find yourself on the wum list.

You are crying about a choice but you have been given one, be on the list or not. It is entirely up to yourselves. Make the right choice.

There'sOnlyOneReds (U1721) Im not a wum, i may have differing opinions of certain people but that doesnt make me a wum (wind up merchant)

posted on 22/6/11

There'sonlyonereds.

Not everyone wants to have boring sensible debate all the time. Ok?

People like to poke fun at other clubs. I dont see the trouble in that as long as it stays clean.

Maybe you need to not be so black and white with your "wum" description and loosen up a bit.

posted on 22/6/11

There'sOnlyOneReds (U1721) the list is a personal choice, so if you put me on it only you wont see my comments or articles not everyone, i suppose it could work as their are not as many sensitive sallies as their are users, so those who chose to use the button will effetively close their potential for articles and leave them in a click or gang of non-selected peers, so its good all round, wums will still wum and get their reaction fromt he majority who probably enjoy it and enjoy a bit of bante while those who moan can sit nicely in the safety and comfort of a small populace of people.

in a way the wums win how ironic
