looks like it

Yes, of course it is, no other team outside the top 3 will win the title this season. Normally by the 32 game mark it becomes a 2 horse race, but that might not happen this time round.

Like to think myself an optimist Hedley, but there is indeed a whole half-season to play for and ANYTHING can happen. Just have to get our heads down, not believe the hype and keep racking up the points. Remember 9 point gap can be closed in just the last 3 games of the season, let alone with 18 to go.

COYS!!!

Harry´s court case? If that goes the wrong way fro him, what is the potential fall out for Spurs?

Can he face jail or is he just subject to paying huge penalties if found guilty?

Is it a possible spanner in your season?

No offence but not really. You'd have to stretch credibility somewhat to think Spurs have a realistic chance of winning it.

You'll struggle to live with Utd and City the longer the season goes on though, their squads are stronger than yours. Going from 5th to 1st is pretty much impossible unless you spend £100m+ in the summer in between, which you didn't. Don't get wrong you've got a great manager and are odds on for 3rd, but thats probably where you'll finish.

Think it depends on how much Abramovic is willing to spend this month. If Chelsea look the same or the same plus Cahill then it should be a 3 horse race

Credibility is earnt by your form and league position, it goes without saying Spurs have earnt that credibility. How can you honestly think with half the season gone and Spurs being 3 points off the top that we have no chance.

Do i think Spurs will win it, no, but we certainly have a chance and we are the ONLY team who can win it other than the 2 manchester clubs.

Its a big if, but if Spurs can maintain the level of performance they have shown so far this season they have as good a chance as either City or United.

i agree... but its january.... if we sign well we have a great chance.

Stats appear to corroborate it too.
Last 10 PL seasons, of the top 3 at the new year, one of them goes on to finish top.

In 1997/98 we (Rovers) were top of the league at christmas. Did we ever have a credible chance of winning it? Nope.

Why? Are Spurs not the most in-form team in the country?

Blackburn found themselves at the top, but did not realistically have the team and the squad to sustain it.

The Totenham squad and team have been developing over the past 4 or 5 years, and it is now beginning to show its true potential.

It can also be extended in the last 3 games of the season.

But you did win it in 1995 and if you were top at Christmas then yes you did have a credible chance but you blew it as we might but we have a chance especially as we have to play both teams. Can be beat City at thier place, well Liverpool beat them in the semi-final last night they will be without Kompany, Yaya Toure, Kola Toure. We can beat them and if we do it would most likely put us top, would we still not be credible contenders?

Well maybe, I just don't see a team going from 5th to 1st, I'm not sure its ever happened in the PL. Hedley says you've been building up but you actually went backwards last season in terms of points and position. I suppose you don't have the european distraction this time round which should help. Remember Villa a few years back under O'Neill though? Think they were within a few points of top all the way up to March or something, and ended up finishing 6th. You have to carry on at 2-3 points per game for the rest of the season to win it, big ask for a weaker squad than City and United.

Fair point Hedley - maybe I'm not the optimist I thought I was...

Arsenal, 97/8. 6th to first.
Apart from that, the PL stats on the top 3 are strong.

To compare the current Spurs squad with the Villa and Blackburn squads of a few years back is very naive.

They both had good first XIs, but absolutely no back up for a realistic stab at the very top. Spurs have an incredibly large and flexible squad to pick from now. As I said earlier it has not just come together. It has been five or six years in the making, and is now showing its true potential.
