I believe Whyte will spend around the £5million mark as he initially promised, but how many players are Rangers after and is that enough money?

Agree something doesn't add up, don't get me wrong I knew he wouldn't go out and spend millions on players as this is what got them into bother in the first place

But to say goodwillie is to expensive us a joke

£5m for five players including wages so you're looking at £3m on transfer fees and £2m on wages.

So it'll probably be two or three signings around the £1m - £1.5m plus a couple of Bosmans.

Still early days.

I hope the low offer for Wallace and the knock back for Goodwillies is just the beginning of negotiations and Whyte is just aiming to get as good a deal as possible. Although, personally, I dont think we will do much better with Goodwillie.

Wish it wasn't so public though! Don't see what we gain by putting everything into the press

what is it with you lot not wanting to know what is going on at your club? Trying to get Cueller on a loan can't afford Goodwillie or Conway and haven't resigned the players who can walk in January....and the rest of the Jelavic cash due to be paid.
No matter who Whyte claims is staying , if you want players in it will be players out first. He has been rumbled over mortagaging the next few years season tickets so I doubt there is even £5M available for players and wages.

Are you bhoys aware that it's the 22nd of June???

If we'd rushed in and signed 4 players you'd be on here saying Whyte and ally have pressed the panic button.

Hemed preferred La Liga and most foreign players would unless you vastly over pay them...........glad we didn't.

Conway was only ever going to be a squad player.......doubt many bears care and I doubt many bhoys would have been concerned by him if we signed him.

As i said above its stilll early days.
How many players have Celtic signed so far? Other than your back up keeper. Remember Bothroyd isn't there yet!

I think the Goodwillie thing is just starting even though i cant see us getting a better deal for him.

McGregor could go if the right money is put up.

I hear were your coming from but what wait till the last day of the transfer window then hope to get a good deal ???

I hate it when we do this and I hope Lennon has he main signings well before this

As for spending I do think Rangers are looking for bargains but SPL clubs are not selling there top players on the cheap anymore and with Conway I think he would have been a great signing for you and I am sure coisty knew that as well

Like I have said let's all judge each other when the window is closed

posted on 22/6/11

thing is you know how much Goodwillie is going to cost, if you have to look at the price tag then you can't afford it. You offer Hearts 300K for an exciting young international defender then get all uppity when you are offered more than twice the price for Whittaker , who is no better.
Step up and pay, I know your whole club only cost £1 but that isn't the benchmark.

Well said Jinky

Don't rate Conway as highly as others but think he could have offered alot of help to Wylde with his SPL experience.

Plus my understanding was that he was being brought in as a squad player and nothing more?

Just wish this limbo was over and we could all get stuck into watching our respective teams play some football!

And you first game of the season is????

-------

Over a month away so no need to panic.........we do have a squad of champions remember so we're not as desperate for new faces as some teams.

Other than paying more than we think a players worth what exactly should we be doing different??

posted on 22/6/11

We can all rip each other over Bosmans, frees etc. but the fact remains that the money you save on any new players can go towards a marquee signing. Both sides in the past have signed plenty and won nothing.
Early days yet folks.
On a different note, let's hope the sun keeps shining at Wimbledon. Not because I'm a fan, I'm not, just want it out the f***ing way.

not planning on having a squad then, thought this was the problem last season (when you had the 2nd largest in Scotland and 6 out on loan including £1M striker) Who ya gonna call? MYTHBUSTERS

how about offering the true value of players , if we keep valuing Scottish players cheaply - Charlie Adam springs to mind then the EPL will continue to rip it out of us

"true value" is a subjective thing.........

Some on here are making a big deal about us getting a couple of 1st offers knocked back but when did other SPL teams ever accept 1st offers from the OF when they have the player tied up to a long contract??

The one that springs to mind is Scott Brown and you payed way over to get him.

Did we really - was it taxpayers money? Flo

posted on 22/6/11

If we get Goodwillie then we will end up paying about the £2mil mark, which (hopefully) will end up being a good bit of business with him going to the EPL for around £5mil.

Sadly the EPL will continue to undervalue Scottish players until Sky takes more of an interest in the league outside the OF.

really ? then why do Newcastle want to pay £6M for him and we said NAW?

Aye we F'ed up with Flo but that's a lesson learned.

At least that's all long over.....you're still paying shark heid 25k a week and he cost you 4.5m...........heidless chickens should be cheaper than that.

Pardew wants to spend 6m on a runner up from a league he declared himself as bein poor quality?

The bottom line is Whytey hasn't got the cash, Bain and co rumbled him and he got shot of them at the first opportunity, he didn't even have it in him to tell Bain to his face, he did it through the media.
Now that's a business man with class
