Zola is my all time best Chelsea footballer.
Imo he has been better than Zola and all the others especially if you consider the trophies we won during his reign...
Ben Haim is Chelsea's best player by far, closely followed by Enrique De Lucas
Zola = poor man's Drogba ie good player with little or no trophies.
Drogba = Rich man's Zola, good player with lots of glory and decorations.
You can hardly compare the two for so many reasons.
Would love to see them as a partnership both in their prime!
Also Zola may have been overrated because he was the only shinning light in a poor team while Drogba was the most brilliant star in a star studded team. And if you consider our present pathetic state its easy to see how immense he was for us. His goals alone (if you consider the matches we have lost and drawn) would have put us at least 6 points above the leaders. So one can easily conclude that we are suffering today because DD has declined, Just as Arsenal as still suffering from the decline of the legendary TH till date.

I can't agree with the logic that just because we won more trophies while Drogba was here that means he must be a better player than Zola.
Newcastle won nothing with Shearer yet many of their fans would still say he's their best ever striker.
Trophies to decide who is a better indivdual player? What a load of cack.
Zola played with by and large a load of tripe compared to what drogba has.
And was a far superior player, as good as drogba is.
Also using your logic gibsons a better player than fabregas......
The point I was trying to make was that Zola may have been overrated because he was playing with poor players. Just like Rooney is looking very good in a poor Utd team.
No, that would be when there class shows. Its easy to look better than you are when you have quality all around you. Ask john terry.
Or Torres in a poor Liverpool side but looks like rubbish playing amongst a star studded Chelsea side.
you get my point now, don't you?
Also, Zola didn't play in a 'poor' team.
We were never outside the top 6 and Zola played in teams with Hughes, Vialli, Di Matteo, Poyet, Petrescu, Desailly and Hasselbaink.
Maybe not as good as todays squad but certainly not 'poor'.
take Torres back to Liverpool and he will become a shinning star again, keep him at Chelsea and he remains ordinary. Its clear to see now, isn't it, so Zola may have been a bit like Torres, good player in a poor team so the little light in him becomes exagerated and it looks as if he is carrying the team on his shoulders but in reality he is a good player. Like a single gold fish in a bucket filled with leeches. Drogba was a gold fish in pond filled with gold fishes like Robben and Lampard (some of the world's greatest players of this generation) etc
If not Drogba than our all time best could eaasily have been Lampard.
Its clear now, isn't it? The Torres example explains the Zola situation perfectly.
Alright then, let me have the 5 stars I deserve, it took some quick thinking to break this down. Go on, rate the article. So Biggish can wake up and see what a great article I made while he was sleeping.
For me it has to be Lampard followed by Zola

Not even a little. All it shows is what we already know, that Torres hasn't had a great first year at Chelsea.
I generally have a lot of time for you even if you are a bit pessimistic but to be honest, right now you are coming across as one of the new breed of spoilt Chelsea fans.
Maybe they didn't win league titles but I think you severely underestimate that late 90's/early 00's side.
Chelseamf, you really want me leave, don't you
blueboy I wasn't even a Chelsea fan then
I came in when Roman took over, and Drogba has been the best for me so far.
Would you call me a glory hunter?
