Need Cutting Edge in Midfield

I'm sorry but I don't agree. We have Shelvey who is made for that position when Gerrard hangs up our boots and we create numerous chances in the vast majority of games that we ahve played this season.

We need a right winger so Downing can go back to the left and we need a striker, preferably with pace, who can find the net.

We need a winger and striker that could stretch defences. A Nani and Aguero's/Balloteli's type striker and winger.

I agree, but Suarez could play this role behind a striker with some pace, a striker of the Torres mould.

Is Sow anything like that?

I looked at Sow earlier on youtube and he did not look all that on there!

When someone watches youtube and says a player is not all that after watching his best bits must mean this SOW is not all that!!!!

Creating chances is not liverpools problem, its taking them that is. Had the stats before the man city game last night Liverpool were 2nd in the prem on chances created but were rock bottom 20th in the prem in converting them chances into goals.

You need more guile and goal scoring from midfield...currently solid but unspectacular.

would a right winger not change the whole way your team plays?

Currently 4231/433/5451 (i'll ignore the 811 at City).

With a pair of wingers, Suarez up top and 2 of Lucas/Adam/Hendo in behind (4411) ....is this different to how you currently play. If so, how would it affect your defensive strength which is helped by having a solid midfield 3 in front of it. Also, can Suarez lead the line well enough. And who will the wingers be crossing to?

anyone?

Sorry Devon, actually did some work there!

I think smaller strikers can do well even if there is not the biggest lad in the box.

Man Utd have Rooney, who's a decent header of the ball granted, and Tottenham have Ade but they don't score that many goals with there head. I like wingers getting to the byline and crossing low with pace for example. Lamps and Scholes have scored many goals this way.

If you stretch play and get players arriving in the box late with a quality cross, low or high, then goals will come. What's happening at the moment is Downing checking back onto his left and the momentm of the move is lost. It's harder for a defender if he is having to clear the ball whilst facing his own goal. Corners happen more as a result.

Downing is playing on the right simply because he is still better than Dirk there. That's my take on it anyway.

Dalglish has also shown he is willing to change tactics and formations fairly often so it would be good to have some more options.
