Including Arteta is harsh to say the least. He's been great for us so far.

Yes, he looks knackered just lately, but that's Arsene's fault for not investing in players he trusts enough to allow the first XI a breather from time to time.

Rosicky doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside those deadweights either. He was excellent right up to his injury. That midfield he formed with Cesc, Flamini and Helb was the last great midfield quartet Arsenal had. Since then it's been this ponderous 4-3-3, passenger-carrying thing.

Arshavin was wonderful for that first year and really lifted both players and supporters alike. Since then though... well admittedly he's been average to poor generally speaking.

The rest of the players you listed are f__kin' awful though.

Lex, has Arteta lifted the team to a new level? To a level we had not reached with Cesc or Nasri? If not then as good a player as he is he is not an improvement.

AW has the habit of simply signing another player who can play in the same position as the player who has left. Where as he needs to find one who can play it just as well or even better.

Had we got Mata who we linked with, i think he would at least be a like for like replacement for Samir. Sadly Arteta is a step down to be honest.

True, I missed that point you made there and have say I agree with you.

I still like him though. Just wish we'd signed him a few seasons back and been spared having watch Denilson turning out for us.

I wish we'd signed Mata instead of Gervinho to be honest.

Koscielny?

Isnt he the best defender in the world according to some of your fans?

DD

I think the point the OP is making is players that lifted the squad when they first arrived.

Koscielny has improved massively and despite the odd lapse is looking more and more the part. But his signing didn't immediately lift the squad.

Ah ok, surely then Arshavin would count in that. He looked great for Arsenal at the start but now looks disinterested...

Arshavin did make an impact. Will never forget the four he put past Liver. Or was it Spurs? Or was it Liver and Spurs?

Your keeper must be an improvement, the best since Lehmann.
Better than Almunia and that Fabianski character, so must be an improvement.

Arshavin was the last star player we signed but been a big let down overall.

Vermaelen was the best to come

Liverpool for sure because thats one of the few Arsenal (and come to think of it Liverpool) matches Ive ever watched live.

Another time I watched an Arsenal Spurs game, Bentley scored a cracker. Had to go out for a bit and when I got back they were 4-2 down with a few minutes to go.

Good times
