In all seriousness though...
What has Downing done to justify inclusion apart from get bought for loads of money by a historically big club.
Kent - I did mean like a couple of months ago though
RRP - I think they probably are with what little he's played this season. I'd personally take him on form...there's only Rooney and Sturridge with better strike rates for English strikers this season. Don't believe Capello will however. He'll have places taken up by Walcott and Barry you see.
Surely your he just will comment has to be next to Downing? Downing????? Come on!
And no room for Lampard? Seems likely he'll go...
Spurtle - I wouldnt be that surprised to see Defoe move in the next 2 weeks, he is desperate to make an impression on Capello and he wont get many chances with us, if he REALLY means business he will put in a shift V's City!
The best days are behind Defoe, if he does go to Euro 2012, he wont get much game time, i would put him behind Bent and Sturridge
Arsene - I was gonna put see theo
Darwin, like I said, it's who I think will go, not who I want to go

International football
Still good to debate it though!
england
someone pull the plug on international football for me please.
apart from the african nations as it means no yaya for city
RRP - I would hope we don't sell him without getting a replacement in. If Spurs did that then . And we wouldn't be selling him to Liverpool like the papers suggest so it's hard to see where he'd go for the price Levy would want for him. I think he'll stay myself.

Spurtle - We wouldnt dream of selling him with no replacement in mind ..imagine just Pav and Ade for the rest of the season !
Would imagine if Defoe did want to leave, he would want to stay in London, he has a lot of family here and he wants to stay in Capello's eye sight
If that squad goes, it'll be "same old England".
Wilshere hasn't kicked a ball this season
Johnson is carp
Downing is Downing
Walnut has been poor this season and has one hat trick in croatia as his own decent England game
And you only have three strikers, two of whom are very inexperienced internationally (and Walcott doesn't count)
You need a spine of (and I use the word advisably) "dependables" (Hart, Cole, Terry (although I hate to say it), Gerrard, Rooney) surrounded by players who are out to prove something, either because they are young (Welbeck, Walker, Jones), or because they aren't the favoured "stars" (Parker, Zamora?, King).

Hopefully he never kicks a ball again
RRP - I guess it depends what Defoe wants. Would he risk leaving now for the sake of a bit more game time, where he may not be guaranteed European football next season and where he might not even get into Capello's England squad regardless, OR would he want to stay at a club with a good chance of CL next season and certainly guaranteed European football, where he knows he's bound to feature? I know which would be the wiser choice if I were Defoe.
He does want to play more I know, and he'll get his chance on Sunday. Hell he might score a hattrick and then we'd comfortably all want to keep a hold of him, as would Harry.
If Downing and/or Carroll get into the England squad I am officially giving up on England, seriously.

Crapello will no doubt go with the usual, which is players that play for Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea will be selected (whether they are any good or not).
For example, the likes of Cahill, Downing, G Johnson and Smalling should be no where near the England euro squad.
Spurtle,
Defoe has proven to be a selfish, impatient, money grabbing in the past.
He moved to mid table Portsmouth to get first team football and big fat wages. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are like that.
I'd like to keep hold of him, if only because we would struggle to quickly integrate a striker to replace him to play at least the role he's played (second choice front man) this season.
When he's on fire, he's an asset, but last season he scored something like 4 goals, and while I actually like it when players aren't happy warming the bench, to go to the press was the wrong move. I'd love for us to get top 3 (guaranteed group stage), and him go in the summer, to be replaced by somenone more dependable. Even though, with the departure of Ade, this is unlikely.
