I'd say fair enough if the figures quoted were fair. He's been a great player at blackburn, and if he does want to go to arsenal then fair -he's 27, they're in the champions league, and we're not. But 12 million? A year into a 5 year deal? One of our best players? Give over!

Rovers didn't spend muc in 1995, the majority of the players were purchased before that.

Rovers may have been involved in the money game, clubs like Arsenal have taken it to a whole new level and it's the fans that suffer. You're just a number to them, nothing more, easily replaced, sheep that follow a leader that lies to you constantly.

It's laughable that you follow it so meekly, "our players need protection" or "football isn't about trophies". I remember standing at Highbury, a tribute to the working class man of North London, with the savvna screaming his team on as they punched and kicked their way to a 1-0. But if you prefer sitting comfortably next to Rupert and Hikotushi, occasionally clapping along to a five yard pass then each to their own...

Of course our opinions count you fool, modern day armchair fan! A football club is still part of the local community, perhaps revenue through turnstiles has diminished compared to other sources but I've yet to see a club ignore their fans.

Since the inception of the prem you are correct, we spent the second least (net) on players, around 150k per season - Arsenal slightly better. You have to remember though, we were a second tier club and you were well established. Over the last 5 or so years we've sold over £60m of players (the club was actually sold for £43m - laughable) and managed to survive.

From Arsenals lofty position and huge income due to a ridiculous G14 monopolisation of champions league revenue, you have failed to maintain your position. Arsenal are the team most under threat from City, Spurs, Liverpool et al and could face trouble. Or you could bleat on about "financial fair play" til someone listens...
