I whole heartedly agree with this
That is a quality team, we all know Capello won't do it.
He would get so much more respect if he played this team and went down with a fight, than if he played the usual players that don't even try.
I know Rooney has been bad for England, but this team would bring out the best in him.
i agree with this. they have had there chance. even heskey couldnt carry that team
Said it in a similar thread not too long back. I would play this side at the Euro's...
Hart
Richards Smalling Terry Cole
Cleverley Carrick Wilshere
Sturridge Rooney Welbeck
After that, then Cole and Terry should be on their way out. If they are still the best this country has to offer this time next year then our youth just isn't that good.
the only thing i would be slightly concerned about is the centre mid. Looks a bit vulnerable without a ball winner, i do agree with everything else tho
Why won't lots of people put carrick in their team
Good choice. We need to start building a young team now and cast aside the old guard once and for all. They don't have the pace or the hunger. Plus they've had their chance in the limelight and produced an embarrassing display in the last World Cup. Time for them to move on and let the youngsters have a go.
I would agree Ben.. Maybe put carrick in the midfield as an anchor and for experience
yeah i think wilshere and carrick in the centre would work really well, or perhaps frimmpong as a future option depending on his development while on loan
-------------------Hart----------------
--Richards Smalling Cahill Cole--
-----------------Carrick--------------
----------Wilshere Cleverley------
---A.Johnson Rooney Welbeck---
swap johnson for sturridge maybe and i would be happy seeing that team going and representing us. a mobile front 3 that aint slow and useless.

Johnson over Sturridge?
the thing is we would actually have a half decent subs bench for once with players who can actually change a game. johnson, young, bent, jones (can play a number of positions) gerrard,
I think Sturridge will be too easy to deal with at international level, he runs off the ball brilliantly from the wing into more central goal-scoring positions but it's all very predictable (a bit like Walcott but better dribbling!).
A. Johnson is much less predictable and has more intelligence with his passing. Technically he also has a great left foot and I've been very impressed with his few outings for England.
He could be part of the combination play of the team whereas I think Sturridge wouldn't be able to fit in with that.
Theres plenty of room for debate.. But Rhys because there's plenty of depth for England to consider,, players I haven't mentioned: jones G Johnson Adam Johnson chamberlin downing walcott, sure there's more, and there's also Morrison frimpong etc. Who aren't ready just yet
its a fair comment regarding johnson, but the way i see it is if he is not playing regularly for city then he shouldnt be for england. That and the fact if sturridge was there then you have 3 intelligent forwards who can change position at will. also wellbeck and sturridge know each other well from under 21 days
Chamberlain is a fine prospect, the game yesterday was enough for me to see that. Clever off the ball movement, pace, good use of the ball (a perfectly weighted and timed pass for the assist) and a good attitude.
In a couple of years he could be starting for England, he should be starting for Arsenal now IMO.

I suppose, it's a decent argument. Still, I would like to play your side but with Sturridge over Johnson. If it was predictable then Johnson could come on and change the game. A lot of City fans prefer him coming on from the bench anyway. With the teams we have selected we would finally have a quick team that knows how to keep the ball and use it intelligently. Shame it will probably never happen.

I understand where you're coming from, I guess we just have different preferences.
yeah we all know capello wont go with it, he just does not have the bottle to go through with it
Scholesatov
You're probably right, it's a shame because IMO England have enough talent to put out a fairly young side and be one of the best teams in the world.
All they need is time to learn how to play together and they'd ease past most international sides.
Capello has done a truly woeful job as England coach.
What's his legacy? What is the style of play he introduced to the team? Which young players have come through under him?
This is what I think we'll see at the Euro's...
Hart
Johnson Cahill Terry Cole
Gerrard Parker Wilshere
Sturridge Welbeck* Young
*Until Rooney's return. I suppose it's not that bad.
Parker deserves to be in there, especially over a player who has spent 90% of his time off the pitch and who has never been played for England before(?).
Yeah I like the idea of youth but there needs to be experience in there.
