McGregor has the same number of clean sheets despite having the better back line (defensively) and Forster docent make the same shocking mistakes Mcgreggor is prone to

If goian/boca are 'nothing amazing', how would you describe your cb's? I know who id have in my team.

Davis - off form, but to say hes never ran an old firm, were you at the league cup final last season? Kayal was nowhere near him

team is most likely gonna be;

mcgregor

jaager
goian
boca
papac/wallace

edu
davis

aluko
bruins
celik

muslimovic

broadfoot, ortiz, mckay, jelavic out

Sorry, why is Goian a shocker?

How has Rangers defence been 'badly exposed' as someone said above.

I must have missed all of that.

We dropped points on saturday but it wasnt the defences fault. We had sustained pressure winning over 10 corners in the last 20 minutes or so.

We lacked a cutting edge and Aberdeens defence got away with it.

To pan Boca and Goian is wishful thinking from the east end and nothing more.

It hurts them to think Ally put together a solid defensive unit in a month when Lennon/Mowbray and the rest have signed about ten players and failed to get a decent partnership over the past several seasons.

I suppose the CB's will have to be a matter of opinion. Who will take ortiz, mckay, and broadfoot and just because bruins and muslimovic are on trial dosent mean they will sign, just like claros, and at celtic plekitosa, mphela etc.

Le hammer see comments above about interest in boradfoot mckay and ortiz.

And yes, we are aware bruins and muslimovic etc may not sign, that is why the article is called POTENTIAL team for the rest of the season.

Good stuff, Jelavic, agree with most, like me you are an optimist. I'd probably punt even more than you but finding a home for them all might be difficult.

We just have to hope that the Ally who is considering signing all these players at the moment is the same Ally who scouted and signed Boca/Goian/Wallace/Aluko.......and not the Ally who signed Bedoya/Ortiz/McKay!

But at the level of player we are now reduced to chasing, we will have to accept a few duds along the way.

Keep it up and "don't let the b******s grind you down" to quote somebody famous. 4IAR is not beyond us yet. It's going to be an interesting eight days

I take it you didn't see the match on Saturday? The way the Aberdeen player ran through your defence was like watching Usain Bolt getting chased by zombies!

Haha good to see i'm not the only one optimistic about the rest of the season proffesor!

We've done it against the odds on many an occasion before, and i see know reason why we cant do it again

Its not too long ago that Celtic were looking absolutely awful, and whose to say that they wont go on another run of form similar to the one they had earlier in the season where they were dropping points left right and center!

Lets be honest if the intrest in McKay, Ortiz and Broadfoot was real then ally would have told us all as thats how he does if transfer business

posted on 24/1/12

Professor Ally can hardly take credit for great scouting of SPL players (Wallace and Aluko) When Lennon/John Park's best finds are mentioned Stokes & Mulgrew are not really mentioned

posted on 24/1/12

Or Bocanegra for that matter as he played in the premiership.

posted on 24/1/12

Exactly - they said we were (banned word) when over three transfer windows we signed nobody -we were stale, lacked competition in the side etc etc - we've heard it all before.

Do we think Celtic are going to the end of the season without dropping any points? No way. Yes, we are poor at the moment, but these things come in phases. We may well lose the league but daft to give up hope yet, with only 4 points adrfit, next OF game at Ibrox, few new faces in by that time, and we might end up with an eleven as you describe

Can this Jaager guy be a worse player than Broadfoot, or a worse defender than Whittaker?

We may end up paying wages to a few bench warmers, but at leastr there don't seem to be any transfer fees involved with Claros, Bruins, Cox, etc etc. All we need is for this Celik guy and a couple of others to turn out well - and who cares if some are merely putting themselves in the shop window with an eye to a future move to the EPL. We are looking at short-term goals at the moment until tax/debt stuff sorted. I'm sure Ally doesn't see himself as trying to create a Wenger-type dynasty to last a decade - just get us successfully to the end of the season and we'll be happy!

Ally wants to sign claros too. Ok, may be a bit early to say muslimovic n bruins will sign, but i know enough of their past to say if they are still near that level id hope ally would buy them.

So if we brought in jaager, claros, bruins, muslimovic n sold broadfoot, ortiz, mckay, jelavic, would my fellow bears be happy with that? Would like to see us try for brozek as well, on loan to buy

posted on 24/1/12

like I said I would be very surprised if anyone came in for the 3 mentioned and didnt McKay say he wanted to stay. Also by the time Jela is sold other teams may have snapped up Bruins, Jagger etc.

posted on 24/1/12

Claros would demand a fee as he is still under contract at Motagua

posted on 24/1/12

How?

We have them for the week on trial. Jela could go in days

Broadfoot may not go, but if ally wants mckay/ortiz out im sure they will go. Might not have happened for them here but im sure teams in spain will still think ortiz can do a job for them, n mckay was poty in oz so cant imagine there being no interest over there

posted on 24/1/12

Jelavic sold = money to pay fee for claros

posted on 24/1/12

Jagger's trial is over is it not. And teams can sign players when they are on trial at another club. Jelavic will leave 29th or later

I don't know how much credit Ally is due for the different signings but I'm trying to say that four have been successful (Boca, Goian, Aluko, Wallace) and three not (McKay, Ortiz, Bedoya)

At the financial level we are operating at just now this sort of outcome is to be expected - a few decent value signings and a few duds. It's not as if he has blown his entire budget on one, say, £5 million player for it all to go t*ts up
