The only battlei'm confident of us winning in that list is Gerrard's. If Adam is marking Silva we will be lams to the slaughter.
Adam is better than people think, i know he nowhere near Silvas ability; but he is a decent player. Adam and Spearing i suspect will close Silva down.
Adam is ok, not great but not terrible.
He is good on the bench and for smaller games.
Spearing better be doing everything possible (I know he will) to stop Sliva or we could face a defeat at Anfield.
Silva could play with ankle shackles and still walk around Adam, 3 men in the middle is a must tonight with jay (if fit) gerrard and one if Henderson or Adam, as we need to press fast and high up the pitch I'd go for Henderson as he's quicker and mire mobile then Adam plus Adams set pieces have been tripe all season and no one whips a better dead ball then gerrard.
When are you guys going to field Shelvey regularly? Really impressed with that kid. He could be your very own Silva.
Im pretty sure spearings injured
I'd like to agree on Adam got better but he's been average all season bar a few games, not scored a free kick, few assists from set pieces and the last time he tried to press a midfield that play quick incisive football was spurs away and he got sent off in half an hour.
I'd play him at home in games where were likely to dominate posession but this is not a game for him to shine, if he starts I'd love him to prove me wrong but based in the last 6 or so games I don't see it happening.

Fair enough, so if Jay is injured would you go with:
-------------Hendo---Gerrard-----------
--Kuyt---------Bellamy-------Downing
Let's hope Agger is better than at Bolton. He'd just come back so he should be.
I hope Barry is made to look like the cart horses close to City's training ground.
Silva v Adam. No contest really.
Carroll v Savic. Probably Carroll's biggest game for Liverpool if he starts. Anyone training all week shouldn't look flat-footed like Carroll has recently. Let's hope he steps up.
Match thread coming soon.
Yeah gb something along them lines but really think we need 3 in the middle tonight more to stifle cities quality in there so if jay is injured maybe 433 with
Henderson gerrard kuyt
Maxi Carroll downing
Don't see Bellamy starting as he played sat, hope he does but based on the way he's been used so far don't see it happening, on the bench and come in for last half an hour if were drawing or loosing the tie
To the OP. I agree with your points.
Heres my take on 3 key battles.
Agger vs Aguero.
I believe Daniel Agger is coolness personified and is well capable of marshalling Sergio Aguero. He's also capable of doing damage up the other end, its been a while since he scored. That left peg is a dangerous weapon.
Gerrard vs Barry. Now if it were Gerrard vs Yaya Toure, I would have to favour the younger Toure in this battle. But seeing as Yaya is at the AFCON, Gerrard wins this against Barry, as Barry is as slow and as one dimensional as Michael Carrick. He poses no threat whatsoever.
Bellamy vs Savic. This is a key area for Liverpool. If you are a young centre-back thats new to the premiership the last thing you want to face is the ''Nutter with the putter''. Bellamy badgers defenders, he annoys, he will give Savics backside a headache. He will torment him. Sometimes the more experienced defender will knock Bellers down a peg or two. Bellamy will eat Savic alive.
