Hard choice at Left back when we had Newton, probably put him as a sub though

no payton or eyres ??

It was tough, no Thomas or Coates not even Skippy Kindon coming on as a sub. No Jimmy Robson who went most of his career unheralded or John Connolly speeding down the wing then cutting inside to shoot low into the corner of the goal. Left out a player who I never saw but his still in the mind of the older Clarets, Reg Atwell, supposedly a very talented player. Just went with the ones I have seen and tried to put a team together.
Picked Noble and I never really liked him but he was a play anywhere kind of professional scored some cracking goals.

You can't make rules up as you go, sounding like a Bolton fan.
Blacklaw over MacDonald, the old argument, tough one to call there was also Strong.
For the few years he played for us theres a strong shout for Brennan at full back, very fast and a heck of a shot.
Neither of us picked the full Iron Curtain defense, I dont think they would have finished a game today, all sent off in rapid succession.
Players of the last 20 years, Little would be in the team along with Fletcher. Will have to think of the rest but hard choice when you think can only go back 20 years.

Never was a Mcdonald fan, although I loved Harry Thompson. As for the last 20 years (ish) here goes.

Jensen

Mears, S Davis, Duff, Fox

Little, McCann, Alexander, Elliott

Blake, Payton

Manager Eddie Howe

Sorry Onts, Fletcher is too old, J Rod must come close to making it.

Steve Fletcher? not Paul
Fully agree with Duff, he settles the team down but I wouldnt have Mears in the team very ungrateful player. Would go with the loanee Williams, we should have signed him.
Trevor Steven would make it also we should have persevered with Lee Dixon.

Forgot all about Steve Fletcher. Struggled to find a better RB than Mears although Trips will be better. So who gets the chop for Fletcher ?

Here goes
Grant
Trippier Steve Davies Duff Fox

Wallace Eagles MCcann Elliott

Akinbiyi Fletcher
Manager Sorry guys Coyle

Bench - caldwell, Jay Rod, Bikey, Beast and Pato

Not a bad line up when fit, would go with Stan for manager and Pato and Ade to swap.

Was thinking Stan but coyle pipped it and only because of wembley and the day I had The best i have ever had being a claret even better than when parky scored at wembley

CTID, Surprised at your choice of Ade but otherwise it looks good. Interesting that the 3 picks for Manager have all been different. Stan will always be a Claret, Coyle will always be Judas and I hope Eddie will be our future.

I loved Ade he was good and no matter how much I hate Judas he still did the best thing burnley have ever had in the past 20 years he also made us dream but I think that Eddie will take us far he seems a very good young manager the signs are there already upc!!!

Agree with everything you say except I can never forgive Coyle . Not for leaving, but for how and when he did it. Perhaps in the long term he will have done us a favour.

Yeah, I'm living down south now though, and unfortunately finding myself feeling like less and less of a Claret.

I try to get up to TM once or twice a year and watch them when they're at Reading, S'hampton and places but I'm a little ashamed to admit I've been to the Emirates a lot cos of convenience and friends with tickets and I'm becoming a bit of a closet Gooner too.

Bit of a dilemma next season TBAG when the Claret hordes invade the Emirates. I hope you will be there on Saturday urging the Gunners on to a massive victory over our dear neighbours !
