Question I would be asking is don't Rangers want to hold on to your best players, he was one of your best players last year.

If he leaves it will cost you 3-4ml to replace him and then there is no gaurentee that he will work out so like it or not you have to look at the bigger picture here

Stop blaming everybody except your new chairman...

He promised to back his manager...He is failing.

Like Miller, he sees a big payday....Good luck to the guy.Your club are no longer going to pay BIG wages, a lesson learned, I say

.........<Applause>....m8 i trail my kids 500 miles every so often because of a bond i have with club which i want them th have as well....when i read about players holding everyone to ransom i despair....they are greedy to the core and not even entertaining to watch....we have to set our stall out...let him go to turkey...the chances are the heat will torture him and before you know it he will be playing for hibs on 2 grand a week...no doubt living off his time at Rangers...good riddance i say..

titanic stop talking guff, we offered the lad 1 mill per season for five years, when was thr last time a five year contract was on the table, stop trying to point score. Your capable of playing nice but as i said yesterday i cant be bothered wae you when your like this

and to jinky should we just cave in and pay the lad 2 or 3 mill a season cmon where does it stop. I value your comments jinky youve always proved to be quite a decent lad on the old board

The only good thing to come out of this is that Whyte has shown that he's backing McCoist...20k a week to Whittaker is above and beyond reason...what will he give a good player ?

You'll have a link to those figures

I read it was a £1m over the 5 years

With the way your chairman is behaving with other targets, I find if difficult to believe Whittaker would have been offered £1m a year for the next 5 years.....

He would be MAD to not accept and is why I don't think you are correct

the more I read of Whittaker just want to see the back of him, Im glad he turned £20k down as other BETTER players will glady play for the Gers for less

the comments from his agent - "its up to Rangers if they want to miss out on a transfer fee, we will just talk to clubs in Jan"

you cant deal with this type of person - Whittaker and yer daft agent - glady FO from Ibrox and dont return

Whittaker take your boots and GTF your play as a defender is nothing more than average.
In fact if you watch a few euro games whittaker is where the opposition see as our weak link

Lads I hear what your saying and agree 100% but this is what football agents do once a player has a great season he then brainwashes him to thinking he would get more money elsewhere.

Now what do we do say ok were not paying you the Money and he leaves, now alot of you will agree that say we didn't win the league the first thing we would be saying is we should have paid the money

Now like it or not we don't have the same money that other clubs could offer but one thing I will gaurentee they won't get the same passion as you get up here.

He's served us well, very well infact and still has a year left.
He's won everything In Scotland so I dont blame the boy for wanting to play in a different league.
We gave him a 5 year contract and he signed it.I doesn't matter how much we offer him If he wants to move he'll go.There will be similar or better money elsewhere.

If we can sign Lee Wallace on a pre contract in January I dont see the problem in letting Whittaker see out his time with us.

Its just on the BBC Gers have made him a further offer ???

I have an offer he could nae refuse

Titanic....do u work at being stupid ? 1 m over 5 years is 200k a year which 50% less than he's currently getting. If u can, do the maths but don't deny something cos it doesn't suit your argument.

If any Bear on here, believes that Whittaker was offered 20k a week, for the next 5 years and refused it

His agent says that Rangers should accept the fee or he's signing a pre-contract in January.....

This to me, comes across as someone who feels undervalued by the clubs' new owner......

As does, Ally

Why would McCoist feel undervalued? Chump!!!

It makes perfect sense to refuse the first offer of a contract. As we are finding out with our offers for GW CC and LW.

Either that or our new owner is as tight as an ersehole in January.

Mr. Edu.......Don't shoot the messenger. This was a fellow Bear of yours that posted the figures I was quoting, on another article.

It seems to me your chairman is dipping his inexperienced toes into the melting pot, that is players doing what's best for them and not being fannyeed around by bartering.....

Where's Gordon the Gofer when you need him

I'm obviously in the minority here but I've no problem with the lad turning down the contract.

It's funny money to us but if you're being offered that and can get more elsewhere why should you just take the contract and stay if you fancy a change???

You talk about loyalty but it's business, he signed a contract and is willing to honour it.....that's all you can ask he's not indebted to the club for his whole career just as the club don't owe him anything other than what we think is in our own interests to offer him.

If he becomes a free agent he'll have options of the EPL or a cash rich club on the continent who will pay way over what we're offering and if he has another good season the contract from us will still be on the table if he doesn't get an offer he fancies............it makes sense to me.

Titanic... are you drunk?

posted on 23/6/11

Somewhere here it's seems to be forgotten that he's not really very good! Yes he's versatile yes he plays where ever we ask him too but at the end of the day he's very very average.

I'd be happy for him to stay but at the same time if he leaves I really don't think we would struggle to find a replacement at right back I prefer papac to him at left back and I think we will be signing a few midfielders anyway.

To us he's worth around 10-12k a week i wouldn't really push the boat out any more than that. If he's being offered more elsewhere. I don't blame him for wanting to take it.

If he ends up at a team that need to defend more than rangers week in week out he will soon be shown up.

lets wait and see what whittaker was offered. At the moment its just press speculation that he was offered 20k a week.

I cant see it being 20k. Hes a good player but to be on 20k a week would make him our 2nd best paid player. I dont think its likely. As i say, lets wait and see what the offer was before tearing whittaker too shreds.

Btw, in fairness to titanic , hes right. There was a gers poster saying it was 200k a year, 4k a week that was offered. Again tho, pure speculation.

Whittaker in fairness should look after himself and take big money whereever its offered! In fairness to Celtic fans big money means nothing to players these days consider Bobo and Freddie!

assuming you actually have a job, and a nother company offer to double your wages, what would you do?

footballers careers are short...make hay while the sun shines...
