I think Lennon's looking for an experienced centre forward. Not just someone who can pitch in with goals but can help out the likes of Hooper and Stokes.

I had the same thought about my team.

I would agree with Harry about NLs thoughts though..

It can be risky bringing them on too soon - the pressure could break more than you make plus sometimes there's issues with them being injury prone if they play too much too young. Not sure of the mechanics of this but it does seem to happen.

Micheal Owen?

Was that not murphy ?? all i am saying is try something else rather than look at very average targets imho, look at wanyama the boy looks like an experienced pro who's to say young tony watt or one othe others won't do the same

Would sooner loan out emerging talent preferably to Europe. There will be a reason we haven't signed a frontman and I suspect it is availability. We can't have any old player turning up for a trial and then doing a bunk to Sunderland for example.

Naw, definitely naw. It's not just the experience on the pitch that Lennon is looking but off it as well.

We have a young team. We have a particularly young forward line. I think he's looking for someone around the 30 years old mark who's played at a decent level.

.................

It's the way to go.

Scottish youths have the heart and lungs and could definitely get better by following the Paul Lambert route.

i get what your saying harry and agree but the last thing we neeed is another journeyman 30 year old after a payday And as that total cvnt hansen so elequently put it!!!

"you will win nothing with kids"

You can't play the young guns too early. They have no guile and would literally get tore a new one against some centre halves in our league.
There will be one or two who are ready but it is a huge risk to play potential so for that reason OP I'm out.

I see your point mordor but i believe that is the reason which is holding back our game at senior level it didn't do the likes of james mccarthy, mcgeady , rooney , wilshire and plenty more any harm. getting first team football at a youn age. OLD ENOUGH GOOD ENOUGH

We are stuck in a fear culture in scotland, ooh he's too young needs time oh he is too wee he will need to grow a bit, tell that too messi ffs odea is 24 , mcmillan at gers i think is 21 and they're classed as our youngsters??? cmon don't you think it's time for a rethink

You can hardly accuse Lennon of not throwing n young players. The average age of the Celtic team who beat Rangers was 22.

Or 'the next Baggio' syndrome.

Look at Fleck, probably a half-decent player but the sycophancy surrounding him probably effected him.

I think you're missing the point here i am all for young players the more the merrier as i said 30 year old journeymen like murphy etc add nothing but big wages and a young boy could maybe make a name for himself trying his heart out to stay in the first team. It really has happened before you know

"Or 'the next Baggio' syndrome"

The media build these youngsters up just so they can knock them right off their pedastal it's a british trait.

But the fans need to have a look at themselves also regarding young players. I actually feel sorry for young fleck all that hype definately affected his game

Your post refers to strikers. You nurture talent and throw them in against hammer throwers? Rooney at 16 had the build of a fully grown man. I agree with playing young players, definitely, but a good set up would not turn to youth products to fill gaps.

posted on 26/1/12

ok i will use messi as an example he has the build of a 12 yearold boy but obviously has bags of talent look at michael owen at 17 he was never the tallest or biggest but he was rapid and thats what made him

. I am by no means saying we have a messi or owen

but these boys held their own against the best europe had to offer in the nextgen series.

Being big means nothing unless you coach in scotland i.e hammer throwers, but thats another debate which i cant be @rsed gettin into.

goodenough old enough and i will always stand by that

Messi and co. are the shortest team in Europe!
Owen has not been fit tor years, he is a good example of what I am talking about. By all means play them but abroad if anywhere.
I frikkin love Messi.

posted on 26/1/12

messi is that good you run out of superlatives describing him. tm fm2012 lol

But unless we sign someone with experience he has to be a first team pick so you will probably see another loan deal which would be better than some of the names bbeing badied about

I honestly think we have got a good set up just now. We need to bring players in that will suit our systems and help the team grow into a decent unit. We have come on leaps and bounds this year so I still have a bit of patience left, as it stands we should have enough at our disposal to see out the league challenge at least.
