Sunderland line up £1.5m SKD

Sorry Bricks, no idea what point your trying to make, and I ain't sure you know either..

You bought Sturridge into it

I think we get a self assigned point each Mallorca haha

jokes aside, i kind of agree with you Bricks...but £1.5m is alot for Davies at this stage in his career and contract. Club legend or not...that offer is way beyond his actual worth in my eyes. Hes 35 in March, never had technical ability like Giggs, Scholes or Beckham...hes become less effective with each performance....hmm id accept the offer personally.

But i cant, because it Kevin Davies...oh god....good luck Phil.

My point was you can do something with the money raised by selling SKD and banking his wages..

We did it 12 months ago with Sturridge...

Then you start changing history with BS about Megson's love child... Completely irrelevant to the conversation, then adding we did Chelsea a favour!!!!???

That....... Bricks, led to my confusion..

Right...poo & bed.

Night.

This is probably one of the hardest decisions the club has had to make in a while.

£1.5 is a lot of money for a player who is 34 and is declining in quality. However, he is an absolute legend. Whatever happens, we need to treat SKD with the respect he deserves.

Indeed, fans need to know its the last game, that way we can show him how much he'll always mean to us. We don't want what happened to Campo.

What do you get in the transfer window for £1.5m? Half a Tim Ream and signing on fee.

The question should be what do you get in the Summer for £2.3m, which would include what we will save on wages based on 40k for 20 weeks.g

We have Klasnic, Ngog and Tuncay. Davies is finished.

I cant use foul language....so im not comenting on this....you all know were I stand on it...

If someone is stupid enough to offer £1.5m for Kevin Davies, we should take it and run.

I'm a sentimental kind of guy, and I would have loved him to get 10 seasons, it's a nice round number. But to get 1.5m for a 34-year old with 6 months left on his contract, who we got for nowt 9 years ago sounds like a very good deal to me. Sell.

What do you get for 1½ million quid in the January transfer window?
-------------------------
Yeah, but you add it to the 7m for Cahill(less 2.5m for Ream) and you've got 6m to play with. What do you get for 6m quid in the January transfer window? Summat.

correct...you get 'something' sadly, with this being BWFC, all we will get is no players but a bunch of happy shareholders...

we will not spend the money on players...ream is our lot this season...we may get a panic loan but that will be it.

Why would the shareholders be happy? It's not like we'll make a profit either way.

1½ million quid is chicken feed if you look at the cost of the gamble we would be taking.

We are in the tightest relegation scrap for years which will in all likelyhood come down to 3 from 4 teams.

Look what we would be left with:

N'gog - can't score.
Klasnic - would have to change our system to accomodate him.
Tuncay - Hhmmmm!

The Prem already think we are powder puff team as it is and the games from now on are going to get even harder and points harder to come by.

Does it not make you wonder why a very experienced manager wants the player whilst a very inexperienced manager doesn't?

posted on 27/1/12

I don't see it as a gamble...the team is playing much better now with SKD out of it. I also think if we were to sell we would have a replacement set up.

Bricks, SKD has made 23 appearances this season. He has scored 2 goals and been credited with 2 assists. If you would like to nominate some excellent performances you have witnessed this season that make you think he has an important part to play in our survival, because stats can be misleading, then be my guest.

posted on 27/1/12

Sorry typo, 3 goals and 2 assists.

posted on 27/1/12

Stats are sometimes easy to use, so Steinsson & Ricketts have as many goals between them as N'gog and David Wheater has provided as many assists as N'gog.

Tuncay has neither goals nor assists.

"Stats are sometimes easy to use"

Like the spending of managers!!

Oh the irony Bricks!!!

And Rebel... The line about shareholders pockets!!! You seriously have no idea about BWFC's accounts have you!!

Bricks, that's EXACTLY why I invited you to name some excellent performances this season, so you couldn't trundle the "stats are misleading" line out on me.

Whenever I pin you down on something you ignore it. Happens all the time.

Do you need to be making a profit to line the hreholders pockets? How I thought it was.

Ngog isn't scoring because he hasn't had the service, but you cannot fault his performances, dare I say it.. He's a better player than Davies was, in terms of technical ability, and he's improving with every game.

You keep moaning we are nr signing players trig, I read through bwfc accounts last night, we have £120,000 in the bank. That's actual cash. That's why we annoy buy players.

However if we sell Davies for £1.5m now, including the Cahill money we will have £6,120,000 in the bank, plus savings from the wage bill. Now does that make you happier?

.............

id be happier if it was spent on players, i dont think its going to be though.

im also (letting sentiment get in the way too much i know) really not keen on super kev going anywhere....

posted on 27/1/12

Course it will.

All money we gain from transfer is spent on players. If we sell a player we major signings, we don't sell players we don't. Simple as that.

We have two secret deals were working hard to close ATM, too good players who are both costing abit, but it would wipe out the bank balance. Would you be happy then?

Mallorca

I gave you the last 5 years of accounts as provided to HMRC and they believed them.

And Rebel... The line about shareholders pockets!!! You seriously have no idea about BWFC's accounts have you!!

I get a holiday and dog food fund cheque for just under 3k/annum off some of my shares (10p (7p net)), not my worthless 0.01p, 0.49p & 0.50p shares that only pay dividend if we make profit.

The company hate me, and others, for it and each year do everything they can to convert them and there is a condition of compulsory buy back if they reach a certain threshold of ownership (redemption or conversion).

They were issued late 60's in the form of a loan to the company, not equity or allotted share capital, and hence show up in the accounts as creditors. These shares alone give you no entitlement to vote at the AGM.

Also remember that the amount my dad loaned to BWFC in the 60's would have bought you a small 3 bedroomed house at the time, so it hurts me that players can still get 10x in a week what I get per annum from them.

They are the juicy ones that even Eddie doesn't have

I've blanked personal stuff, but just to prove they're not magic:
