Big and special game. I do think it will be overshadowed though unfortunately.

They'll be a sending off I reckon.

My only hope is that some idiot does not shout anything at Evra.

I agree with this entirely....

except that after tea your 'mess with kids' you sick manc freak...

Top article.

Five stars.

However I don't have kids, and probably start work earlier than the rest of you due to time difference.

Therefore I am different and have every right to abuse

I worry about this sometimes mate but from a personal perspective, I've had a couple of nasty experiences on visits to Anfield, my grandfather was hospitalised in one of them.

So it's a lot more than football for me. I understand not everyone at the club endorses the behaviour of the idiots who assaulted my grandfather for simply being a Utd fan or decided to throw excrement at my family members or a brick through our window and we've got stupid fans as well but I've never been the victim of such treatment anywhere.

I hope it's a good game and the talking is done on the pitch but when it comes to LFC, it's a lot more than football.

Not saying it's right or justifying my loathing for them but it's a lot more than football although football played a role in it

Cheers

you'll get the normal Munich and hillsborough chants, as unfortunately both sets of fans contaim a small minority that are complete and utter t0ss3rs who seem to think that football is more important than some innocent human being having his life taken.

shame really.

Where do they come from though. I know LOADS of LFC fans and none of them would sing stuff like that.

Disgusting.

like i said mate, small minority on both sides, just because we dont know them, doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

I have been looking forward to this game since I heard the draw. Hopefully the football is as brutal as possible and there will be many a red card and injuries.

Unfortunately football brings out the worst in people.

For the most part I find the citizens of Liverpool very pleasant.

Everton fans of course

dont do the 16 year old day joke....

let myself open for that i suppose

Nothing wrong with letting off a bit of steam and poking fun at your opponents, just as long as that is all it is and does'nt require police intervention. A few idiots on here and other forums have been suggesting Evra stay away for his own good, rubbish, he's been our captain and one of our best performers, yes he'll get abuse but all united players get abuse at anfield, its all part of the rivalry, i refuse to believe that football fans could be so stupid as to risk FA sanctions against their club by resorting to anything other than a bit of verbals at evra.

and fair play to your old man, i think this is what the op is trying to say, despite all the decent supporters on both sides, you'll always get some fans who will give the club a bad name.

yesterday it was suggested on twitter to applaud evra's every touch... just to confuse the press...

it would never work but it would be brilliant....

the press have already written their 'evra recieves racist abuse' articles for sunday... it will take one comment so please no one give them the satisfaction...

The important thing to keep in mind is that it isn't 'Liverpool supporters' who did that to your grandfather - it is mindless idiots who did it, and there are a certain number of those belonging to every football tribe.

The rest of us normal human beings should listen to people like the OP who recognise that we're all basically the same: passionate about our football but outside the rivalries no different to one another.

The significant divide isn't between United and Liverpool supporters but between the human beings supporting both clubs and the angry people with an infantile understanding of what it all means.

I said on another post that I think a return of mainstream hooliganism is only a stone's throw away. Maybe it is the recession and some knock on effect of the riots... but it feels ready to kick off, big time.

Hope i'm wrong. I've been caught up in it before, once as a kid in the early 80s, taking a pounding alongside my old man, proper family day out! .. and hospitalised as an adult.

All in the name of football, mad.

"There's only one Patrice Evra"""" ?

posted on 27/1/12

to be fair we live in a world where racism is still around and to a degree Evra should expect this from the Liverpool fans (altho i dont think it is right), but to receive it from a fellow professional is not acceptable.

I remember at a Bournemouth game, some Neanderthal started with the monkey noises when a black player took a throw just in front of us. He was about 2 seats away and I shouted, "what the **** do you think you're doing you " and he was thrown out.

I'll unite against one of my own fans for things like monkey noises.

Hate that.

That would be hillarious if it happens

I was sat in the South stand at OT the game after we were knocked out of the CL and The Stretford End were singing 'Thursday nights. Channel 5' themselves.

Fans can be bloody funny at times and LFC fans clapping Paddy would be just hillarious and gawd knows what the press would make of it!!
