Catch me out in what you plum?
De Gea played only two full seasons in Spain, admittedly in higher standard league than Lindegaard but as I said experience is everything for a keeper. Over those two seasons he has made similar errors but equally put in match saving performances.
Factor in his age, the fact he is replacing Van Der Sar,does not speak the language then of course he'll have problems.
Lindegaard is more settled probably because he speaks very good English, the Nordic culture being similar to ours.
For a keeper speaking the language is essential as it allows to organise the defence. This is an aspect of the game De Gea struggles with and as result complete chaos ensues.

True.
How many 'keepers did United try out after Schmeichel left, before landing Van Der Sar?
Bartez, Taibi...
Replacing guys like VDS isn't an easy thing to do.

The thing is, these 'basic mistakes' were nowhere to been throughout October and November when De Gea was playing every week. He had a bad start which I've already acknowledged, but he went on a run of good games and got in the paper for the right reasons. A mistake in the CL against Basel aside, he was finding his feet.
The management have handled the whole situation very badly. He's been 'rested' for the wrong games and then brought back into the sides for the wrong games.
what so because he cant speak english means he has no ability to catch the ball from a set piece?
he is awful stop defending him

in most games he has little to do because we normally keep the ball.
when he gets tested you clench your teeth wondering if he will mess up or not.
whenever he makes a save he never catches the ball he parrys it into a random area.
he is sooo bad i dont understand how people are defending him.

And it is not De Gea's fault he's been thrust into the limelight after costing an exorbitant amount of money.
Nobody is denying the mistakes De Gea is making. They are elementary errors of judgement.
But before criticising the lad consider the fact he's been out in the cold for 5 games and suddenly he's on the team sheet in one of the key encounters against our bitter rivals. Who is at fault here? Fergie? Most definitely.
Who is at fault for having an unsettled backline? Lady luck for afflicting our squad with unprecedented injuries ? Or maybe Fergie for mismanaging his squad.
The first goal is the fault of the entire backline, De Gea included. He is however, not the prime reason for the goal.
Who is at fault for the second goal? The defender failing to win the ball Carroll managed to knock on? Or was it Evra's fault for being out of place, day dreaming? Granted someone like Van Der Sar would have alerted his defence of the danger or even closed down the danger rather than being rooted to the goal line.
Experience goes a long way.

And that is probably Fergie's thinking. Get someone with potential and we are safe for the next 10-15 years.
We spent nearly that length of time before managing to sign Van Der Sar. To be honest he should've been signed as soon as Schmeichel retired.

How can he catch the ball with such heavy traffic in front of him? No communication, nothing! Agger's task was made easy amongst the chaos between our defence, Liverpool players and De Gea!
It was De Gea's fault as much as it was the fault of the defence.
any other keeper would have done a flying punch on that ball but de gea is too scared too by the looks of it
Did any of you guys see him play during his time at Atlético?
He'd have been under a lot less pressure there coming through the ranks to play for his boyhood team. Any mistakes he might have made for them would've been met with with a certain degree more forgiveness than he might expect from the OT faithful.
Be interested to know how he performed directly after making a mistake whilst still in Spain. I'd imagine it'd take him a lot less time to put it behind him back then than it does now.
its just not right for a goal keeper to make a guaranteed mistake everytime he plays.

even one being roughed up by Liverpool players or one brought back from the cold ? Defence not culpable?!
So he can't catch, punch and has issues with courage? He must be the precise fit of a poor keeper?
I've seen many experienced keepers misjudging balls, enough keepers failing to punch. I seem to recall even our great Van Der Sar gifting, yes gifting two goals to WBA at OT. Did that make him a rubbish keeper?!
It is bad enough for the lad to be scrutinised in this manner by the media and opposing fans but such nasty comments from members of our own fanbase really takes the biscuit!

He doesn't. He's made 5. City, WBA, Basel, Blackburn and now today. He made a poor kick against Benfica - from a poor backpass - which lead to a goal through further defensive errors. His kicking is excellent though, so that one is forgotten, for me.
They are his mistakes in a United shirt. All mistakes that can be rectified with some bulking up, a consistent run of games next season and experience.
hes played what almost 20 games for us?

Deal with it because Fergie will persevere with the Spaniard until the day he retires.
As for Evra, I would agree but he's been like that for the last 2 seasons. He is under no pressure, he is the best option we have.
We can't wait 2-3 years for him to mature and bulk up. We'll get walloped and win nothing with calamity jane in goal.
We bought the wrong keeper. Stekelenburg was available and cheaper. Went to Roma for peanuts.
I have no doubt that De Gea will be a success in La Liga in the future. He is just not cut out for the aerial bombardment treatment we have to deal with in the PL.
Stoke and Chelsea up next.
He comes from a culture where people are sniggered and jeered at for lofting high balls into the box.

Can you read? I've named his mistakes right there. He has made arguably 6. Please explain at what point in each of these 20 games he made a mistake and what that mistake actually was.

You are wasting your breath on such mugs mate. They have such unparalleled and unrealistic expectations that one mistake from a 20 year is probably equal to 38 mistakes by their logic!
Why can't we wait? Nobody is disagreeing that Lindegaard shouldn't be given a crack in goal for now. Lindegaard should play every league game til the end of the season. But cutting loose after 5 months is lunacy. You don't like him, fair enough. But get used to him being around, because you're a prize plum if you seriously believe he is going to get sold. If in two seasons time and there is still no noticeable improvement or adaptation to the league then you may well be right. But for now, you're coming across as a bit fickle.

I know, I'm perplexed as to how people are writing off a 21 year old goalkeeper in his first season at the biggest club in the world as a total failure after just 5 months. It's crazy.
