January Transfers

I think what people have to remember is that Kenny is effectively on trial here with the board, they made it quite clear that fourth was the minimum they expected.

Kenny will be given a lot of grace with us fans for what he has done on and off the pitch for the club but I fear the board would look at it less favourably.

Factor this in with the performance of the players that have been brought in up to now, the sabermetrics principle that players can earn a certain amount of points over a SEASON and the fact we got absolutely raped last January on the purchase of the ponytailed one and you can see why the board are reluctant to spend lots of cash

I think this is more a case of the board not trusting Kenny to spend more money sadly.

RAP don't be flippant

What I meant was that this season is a wasted opportunity to get a 4th spot that is there for the taking, as Chelsea and Arsenal are both vulnerable and with a clinical finisher we could have overtaken them easily by now.

We have knocked Man Citu and Man Utd out of the cup this week and I think we are doing the right thing by keeping faith with Carroll. He's just beginning to show signs of his Newcastle form and Suarez is back soon.

We are also going to need to make space for our young players coming through.

Ok but where do you think this sudden turn around in chances taken against the weak sides will come from?

Chelsea are going to get better and better and Arsenal should respond well to a cup victory and we have it all to do with nobody who can get the ball in the net!

Anfield RAP

We've still got to play Arsenal and Chelsea at home (having beaten them both away). We've got City out of the way. The next derby is at home. Spurs have got to come to us.

It's still firmly in our own hands, so who's to say we've missed any opportunity?

You have hardly won a league game at home all season, so I would not be that confidence about beating any of Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs.

confidence. We've got no shortage of proven finishers. We can always add more of course but creating chances hasn't been a problem this season, just the finishing has.

I think confidence will sort that.

We're also the only side unbeaten at home this season, and Kenny has only lost 1 of 58 (I think) games at Anfield.

Drawing most of our home games this season doesn't make me confident of beating Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs <erm

I do doubt Suarez' ability to score, I've said before that he's not a clinical finisher, he can be a bit rash when it gets to the final finish.

What's with the sarcastic attitude about him being "my hero"? He's a kop idol and hero to most of the fans on here!

You also have to look at the amount of players in the squad, if we can't/don't want to let anyone go then it's an issue - we can't fit the players we do have in to the side at present (Maxi and Bellmay before Suarez was out).

I say we stick with what we have got unless an absolute worldy becomes available (Higuain) and see what happens, my belief is if we win the Carling cup and therefore secure a European place then the pressure will be off and the team will play with more fluidity, Suarez was a goal machine in Holland, he is getting the chances, the goals are the same size so it will definitely happen sooner rather than later

I wasn't around when Kenny was at his best, you forget that.

I just look how fragile we are and how we're unable to win games at home to be honest. Yeah we can beat the big sides but it's always a false dawn. I think we'll do well in the cups but I felt we needed somebody to bang them in to compete in the league.

I'm not the only poster saying this.

I don't care who is a hero. I care who is performing. So far Kenny has made a lot of mistakes. Even in the game against United he made a massive blunder with the tactics, only for a poor United side, we weren't punished. When we changed it in the second half, you could see how much stronger we were.

We have a chance to finish forth but for me, the smallest chance out of the top five teams and ourselves. The tactical disasters have taken their toll and unless they are learnt from, we're going to suffer more draws against weaker opposition.

Or its more the case that very few big deals are done in January. Last Janaury was a one off, where there were 4 big deals, Torres, Suarez, Carroll and Luiz but normally, most normally you might pick up the odd sqaud player.

>>The tactical disasters

If Kenny sends you a note to apologise for Spurs and Bolton would that help?

We're only 1 match into disaster(s) plural, it's an extremely rare occurance.

Proven finishers low on confidence has been the only issue worth discussing all season.

OK.

Kenny was a club hero at the time, I'm not denying this! But Suarez is our best player currently, one of my favourite Liverpool players to don the jersey.

I love Kenny, but if I don't think he's the best manager for the club then I'm entitled to my opinion and don't need people like you belittling me for it.

TOOR

If Kenny was guilty of making a "tactical disaster" against united then you have to give him credit for rectifying it and then the result no? Other managers are heralded for their adaptability and if see where something is not working

But there's a massive difference between being your personal favourite player, and being a club hero.

To say 'Kenny was a club hero at the time' in one of the most disparaging things I've read on here. So everything he has done over the last 35 years is irrelivant because we lost to Bolton?

You are, without doubt, either the most fickle fan on here, or not a Liverpool fan at all. I'm not sure which.

One of those days is it RAP?

Will you listen to what I am saying. I love Kenny, want him to succeed but I get incredibly frustrated by some of the decisions, Bolton and Spurs being 2 of the worst Liverpool performances I've ever seen in my life but if I feel he isn't getting us where we need to be, i.e. 4th spot in the league, then why should he be given the divine right to stay on as manager.

Of course he should always be a part of the club but if his tactics and transfers aren't up to scratch then he shouldn't be manager.

I want what is best for my club and sometimes Kenny's tactical decisions make me believe that him as manager is not the right move.
