Coppinger bid turned down

£400k nowhere near enough for Copps. I know he can go missing sometimes and is muscled off the ball a bit, but on his day he is superb for us and is capable of causing any defence serious headaches.

Don't let him go JR!

posted on 24/6/11

I hear Lanzorote's piggy bank rattling as he searches for Copp's taxi-fare .

I don't think £400k is such a bad valuation. That doesn't mean I think we should sell Copps because we have no other player who can do anything like what he can. Plus it makes Shiels the only real wide midfielder at the club.

So "No Deal" - I'll open another 3 boxes!

Copps said he's happy at Rovers so i think they'll need to add atleast another 200k on to that.

Fuzzy no need for a taxi fare I will gladly take him free of charge.

NY here.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but have you noticed that it could be a way of marketing season tickets. This weekend is the last for the extended lower price.
" Good we are not selling Sharp and Copps, I'll get my ticket" says the delighted Rovers fan,( who should have done so already).

It's a ploy that could work. However, what will the situation be, if after this weekend, offers ARE accepted for both players and they leave? What happens to trust then?
I have to think that our astute Directors would certainly look to a profit as a good piece of " BUSINESS", don't forget, football is a "BUSINESS" and no longer a "SPORT".

Ohhh what a sceptic you can be NY!

I agree it could have been worked like you say.

I don't agree it should be worked this way.

I don't think it has been worked that way. Frankly, I don't think we're that clever.

So you as sceptical about our manglement as I am about the timing Fuzzy, let's wait and see who if either of us is is right. At least while there is nothing else coming out of the Keepmoat it gives us something to talk about.

By the way, I just noticed that Neil Kilkenny has signed a three year deal with Bristol City.

By the way, Fuzzy, the club is running a Poker night ( Texas hold 'em), back to my scepticism, do you think SoD would do well?

posted on 24/6/11

SOD has the face for poker, but is he too naturally conservative to take JR to the cleaners?

Incidentally just getting my ST for FC Winti. 160 Swiss Francs or £119.67.

when are we going to wake up and realise that jr is nowt but a con man,do you really think sharp will be a rovers player come july? not a cat in hell chance.coppy maybe, just spent 800 quid on our st may as well paid it straight into ryans bank account

posted on 25/6/11

Never looked at this way berfore mickmoon.

What I can't get my head round though is how Ryan is conning us when he has taken over a club that would've struggled to compete at unibond league division 3 level and is now in it's forth season in the Championship

posted on 25/6/11

It so obvious he's a conman, I mean the way he has duped so many of us out of our money and run off with it clearing the club out, oh hang on you said JR not Richardson, my mistake. You muppet! A conman gets people to part with money and runs off with it making financial gain, if JR is a conman he's bloody useless as he's worse of financially for it and taking into account all he's spent since taking over and saving the club the figure us likely to be £20M+.

Well done Marc point well made.
Moonie, you have made a statement:

jr is nowt but a con man,do you really think sharp will be a rovers player come july? not a cat in hell chance.coppy maybe, just spent 800 quid on our st may as well paid it straight into ryans bank account. Personally I think you are wrong.

No one is perfect and JR is no exception but how you can come to that conclusion I just don't know.

I just love it when someone like you makes a silly satatement like you have.

I hope you are man enough to admit you were wrong if it fails to materialise like you say and like wise I will apologise to you if you are right.

NY here.

I think someone has taken my comments out of context Alex.

JR is a conman, but not in the way meant by mickmoon. He has in the past, and no doubt has this time, sold a few extra season tickets on the back of a story, not always about players. JR is good at manipulating something to his advantage, aided and abetted by you know who.

To call JR a conman in any other way is to be totally stupid, without him there would be no DRFC, without him there would be no Keepmoat, without him there would be no Championship.

However, he still knows how to get the extra few quid out of peoples pockets, and yes, in my previous post I was, as Fuzzy said being a little sceptical.

posted on 25/6/11

NY, I know exactly what you meant with your comments. In support of what you said JR is no angel his business is to sell things for a profit and he is very good at it.
As you may recall I have upset JR greatly in the past to the point he wont be sending me a Christmas card but JR is the saviour of Donny and no one can deny that.
But to say that JR is a conman it is just plain silly so lets see if he is man enough to apologise come the start of the season.

We've all as Rovers supporters, got a heck of a lot to thank Mr Ryan for. As mentioned above, without him, where would we be now? Would we even be? Yes there's a slight chance that someone else may have stepped in and got us to the Championship, but the simple fact is, John Ryan HAS.

Just look at listen at the welcome and appreciation he gets whenever he walks round the ground on matchday. He's done a cracking job of conning an awful lot of people if what Mick says is right.

JR, I salute and thankyou, again.

posted on 25/6/11

I think many of us have criticized JR on certain points, (his PR at times, his apparent inability to sort out his commercial team) but a conman?

Mick, if you didn't know what happened under his predecessor, or have forgotten, try to find out and remember. It helps Rovers fans to smile at what we have today, and smiling helps you live longer.

Eventually, our major shareholders will give up and sell their stakes in the club. No profit will be made when they do this. Let's just hope there is another gem like John Ryan out there, though I doubt it!

NY, On the viking site they have a good article running on the "Rovers loyalty card system" what do you think of it?
By the sound of it not enough information out on it yet but it is a move in the right direction.

posted on 25/6/11

hi guys lets get one thing straight, jr is like myself, and im sure the rest of you has rovers running through his blood.what i meant by conman is that jr is firsy and foremost a businessman,as a businessman he uses and manipulates the media.im not saying this is a bad thing, but lets get real by spouting no radio sheff that sharp is going knowhere after turnig down 2.2m then surprise surprise the bidding war starts,so nw do you really believe billy will be still here come august.i fear not

posted on 25/6/11

Mick, I can see where you are coming from but I still think you are wrong. Yes he is a super sales man and manipulating the press but I think he is using the Sharp thing to boost ST sales and not to line his back pocket in the strict sense which you suggest. If Billy is still here at the start of the season I still think you should apologise for misjudging him.

alex,if im wrong ill gladly apoligise, but i have a gut feeling this wont be the case.lets hope he gives sod the backing he deserves, and i hope he gets the players he wants and not the left overs

I think he will get the players he wants on a full time basis mickmoon, where I think he may fall down is by going for Academy/Second team Premiership youngsters on loan. He should be looking to proven , experienced Premiership players who cannot get into the first team. Players who have been there, done that and got the Tee shirt.
You cannot get out of the Championship by playing a team of youngsters. The young ones need proper leadership from players they respect.

I don't think we will have the money to pay the wages of these said players, which I think may lead to another scrap at the end of the season, I hope I am wrong, but!!!!
