- £0.2m: Access improvements to Northumberland Park Station
£3.5m Public Transport Capacity Improvements
- £3.5m: Tottenham Hale Station – funding towards gateline and escalator passenger capacity improvements

WTF .
Given some RDBD recce was done on this a couple of months ago, this smacks of politnik poncing.

Tottenham Hale is a MAJOR hub for the Olympics.
If it cannot handle a similar passenger increase to that projected for the new WHL, NOW, IT NEVER WILL.

From what I saw on my trip, Northumberland Park needs a third platform to enable shuttle trains from Liverpool St - Tottenham Hale - Northumberland Park. If the increased demographic includes E London / Essex, then tis already covered courtesy of Stratford.

The Edmonton train line cannot really cope.
Seven Sisters tube cannot be expanded to take an increase in passengers, regardless of the scope to double the width of the train platforms at Seven Sisters and WHL.

yeah the edmonton train line does need to be expanded. whl station is not big enough and needs more regular service on matchdays. the problem is that the silver street edmonton green whl etc line is actually quite quiet when its not match day.... so maybe the council dont feel its worth their while

---------------------------------------------------------

RDBD - London transport will go into meltdown in the Olympics, they have vastly underestimated how much traffic there will be on ALL forms of transport

I said

we had planning permission and the money for the stadium and that we owned the land where the new staduim will be built

Go back and read it

Chronic :

That line is only busy doing commute and school times.
But Seven Sisters tube is the problem (or more specifically : Spurs attendees get off there and trying to then use the rail line) .

If the Northumberland Park side is made much more better, people will have no qualms walking there. Of course, this is on the assumption that the demographics don't show a large % of attendees actually get on between Enfield and Edmonton stations (the club has this info) .

RRP :

Not really interested in the Olympics issue.
For Spurs the issues are much more precise. When I see a spending list as quoted, I know politniks have done SFA with regard to "due diligence" .

RDBD - Fair do's...just not looking forward to the Olympic traffic

there are only three or four stations from enfield twon to whl so logic says that not a large number would get on at this limited number of stops... despite the area being a tottenham stronghold... i know several people in enfield who drive down to the games or take bus. the train is an expensive unreliable pain in the backside i suppose.

northumberland park station isnt even a long walk as it is so i am not sure why the walk would deter anyone? its probably about the same distance away as whl station depending on which part of the ground you are coming from.

I don't have the current + mythical waiting list demographics, but I would be looking at Liverpool St and Tottenham Hale as the transport hubs on match day.

Seven Sisters rail as an interchange to be effectively discouraged, except for those supporters who live around that line (shuttle trains doing Liverpool St to WHL only etc) .

I'm just glad that the transport in the local area never really affects me when I come to WHL these days. I live in Oval so just get on the Victoria line at Vauxhall where it's never busy. It is a bit of a walk from Seven Sisters but when it's match day there's always a good buzz walking down to the ground so it's not exactly a big deal.

liverpool street is find is more of a big deal on night games because lots of people work down that way...

and i have done that trip a few times and its a joke and chaos and unreliable.. needs to be sorted.. a direct shuttle would do nicely.

how much action does it get on a weekend game?

posted on 31/1/12

On saturdays when I am on that line around KO time, the trains are already packed by the time they reach Seven Sisters.

Therefore Liverpool St is acting as a hub.

As I said, you need the demographics. A Stratford - Tottenham Hale - Northumberland Park shuttle is also an option (did exactly that journey in reverse when I went to the Lodge) .

One of Ken's proposals as Mayor was to extend the Victoria line from Seven Sisters to Northumberland Park (which already exists for empty Vic line trains going to the depot there).

This would go a long way to sorting out the bottleneck at WHL station after matches. Problem is National Rail want to use the space a passenger station would use for installing extra tracks for its own services..

When we get the NDP private funding sorted and construction under way, lobbying for the tube extension should be our next aim, as imo with the tube station at Northumberland Park we can realistically look (in the long term) to expand the capcity at the NDP into 65/70,000 odd..

More chance of getting platform 3 at Northumberland Park (minimal compulsory purchase of part of the back of an industrial unit to add to the space in between that and the current southbound line) .

I've had the misfortune of getting the train from Liverpool street once before. It was massively delayed more crammed than the tube and caused us to miss the first 15 mins of the match. I was mega peessed owf I tell thee. Never again!

So yeh I can see how this hub needs to be improved!
