We've got experience and youth all over the pitch, it's good to mix it up, just look at United over the years.
These experienced players will help improve our youth players, give them experience and help guide them.

Again, i can see the logic in that too, seeing as when fit, Saha is better than Pav.
-----------
I don't believe he is though, not anymore. And whether we'll get a fit Saha is another matter.
We missed a trick in not bringing in younger quality players both at the back and at the front in the last few transfer windows. We may be looking at having to buy at least 2 quality strikers and 1 quality CB all in one go.
Our whole squad will be sorted e.g loaned players such as Bentley, Jenas etc being sold and bringing in the players we need such as a goal scorer. Like 31MIH said I think Levy would rather spend in the summer when clubs will sell players and we know what's happening with HR. Also hopefully with CL football secured in the summer. Which will atract better players.
Bringing in a GK and Striker is a must.
Once Gomes is gone we can bring in a young gun to learn from Friedel and Cudicini as these guys are still good enough for us, especially Friedel.
I think Nelsen and Saha on a free with loaning out Bassong and selling Pav was a stroke of genius.

@spurtle.
The problem I see with bringing in more younger players is will we kill off their future. Harry, as much as I love him, has his players that he likes and they get the game time. If we bring in young players will they ever get a chance to play. Especially next year, if we qualify for the Champions League we won't have the run out for them like we did this year for the Europa. Thats not to say I'm against the idea. We can do it successfully with the likes of Walker and Caulker. If we buy young players we either have to play them (mix them in) or loan them out. I think we are getting better at this than before so its looking good for the future.
@WelshWizardBale.
I wasn't too upset over the transfer window, I know its not what we wanted, but realistically we have a decent (if fit!) CB thats cover on a 6 month deal (+ 1yr) and a Striker that at least is known to score goals and is probably a bit more suited to play in the lone striker role than Pav.
I think its a matter of waiting for the summer, see where we lay and then push on. The last few transfer windows have sorted out some of the deadwood and we are getting more streamlined. We don't want to end up in a situation like Arsenal where we have too many fringe players getting paid that aren't good enough. We have done that well (I think) the players coming in are short term stop gaps until we strengthen in the summer which is just what we need.
Brad has not missed a prem game in 7 years and TBH he's been amazing for us
hes been good for us.. hes not actually a great keeper - hes a good keeper but hes calm and the defence trust him. basically the opposite of gomes.
Keepers are a nasty position to buy, just look at Man Utd and the problems they have had replacing schmeichel and VDS. Arsenal replacing Seaman.
I hope we can get another year out of Brad, but I agree we need to buy a new one, this season Krul and Vorm have impressed and the thought of having a good keeper for years makes me want to lean towards them, and I think both would be interested in us if we wanted them. I would like to see them both have another year in the Prem though before saying go for them, but that could force the price and the amount of teams looking at them up.
Agree Chronic......I think we are all so used to Gomes making so many stupid mistakes we still cannot believe that a goalie can actually catch a ball or make a simple save

precisely why i think the best option is to buy from within the prem.
two standout options.. krul and vorm.. both quality but krul has age on his side.
If we had at least got one of a - new keeper, new CB, or new striker, we'd have shown we were on the right track. We could have got Samba or Cahill in the window if we put in more effort, and we could have settled them in over the rest of the season. Samba, like Cahill, is another one we may have let slip through our fingers.
I feel like we've given ourselves a lot of work to do in the summer, more than we needed to had we not acted sooner.

Spurtle, I think trying to buy either Krul or Vorm during the winter window would have cost us a small fortune, for a position that we could wait until the summer for. Those keepers are fairly responsible for the success of those two teams at the moment so the clubs probably wouldnt want to sell mid-season.
As for Samba and Cahill, Cahill wanted too much money, and I'm in two minds about him anyway. Samba could be better but Blackburn didn't want to sell, and I don't think Levy would throw money away trying to get someone who if Blackburn end up getting relegated we could get cheaper. Plus I think next year we should have Caulker playing for us, and I don't want to prevent his growth when we are essentially looking for cover until the summer.
31 - The goalkeeping position I can live with and I accept it would be hard to prise Vorm or Krul from their teams. Samba I think was a strong possibility since he handed in a transfer request. A striker would have been the most useful of all 3 positions.
We HAVE to spend big in the summer, but I'm not even overly convinced Levy's going to do that.
If Harry goes, all his backroom team goes ?
New man comes. His backroom team comes. Even more dollars

no we dont.
we just have to spend SMART !
And if we do the smart thing and finally get a class striker we'll likely have to spend big to get him.

Is it just a coincidence that Bolton have stopped shipping in goals by the bucket load since Cahill has left?
