I wish you would start playing him, he is better than Glen Johnson and it might actually make Capello realise that Richards is the obvious RB choice to take to the Euro's with either Kyle Walker or Kelly as back up.
Richards isn't fit to lace Martins boots.
Johnson is by far the better player and I'm sure most Liverpool fans would say the same. Kelly is a CB and one for the future.
We have to play our best RB in Johnson and give Kelly some game time when required.

Yep. Kelly has a huge future, whether at RB or CB, but right now Johnson is far the better right back, and is only challenged by Micah Richards (Walkers not bad but ain't quite these two's standard yet).
Johnson gets huge stick like Lucas did, just because of errors in previous seasons. Any Liverpool fan will tell you that Johnson has been immense this season and working with Steve Clarke really does seem to have helped him defensively, and we all knew how good he was going forward anyway.
Johnson is still England number one right back, as he showed when he completely left Richards flat-footed for Liverpool's second goal at Anfield against City recently (Bellamys goal).
>>What does this guy have to do to get a run?
4 Options
1. Be better than Johnson at RB
2. Be better than Agger at CB
3. Be better than Skrtel at CB
4. Be fit if any one of the players named in options 1-3 gets injured
1, 2 and 3 aren't true (yet)
And although Kelly is fit, so is everyone else so 4's not on as well.
5. Become a striker
We need one of them!
Kelly is for the future but Glen Johnson is an awesome right back and the better player offensively and defensively.
Glen Johnson is a great player, with one glowing flaw: he can't defend. Kelly played Giggsy out of the game in a way that Glen hasn't got the ability to do, pace. Mentally, reactionary, he simplY hasn't got the speed of thought/ movement that he obviously has in attack. Equally favourite in my view is Flanno. Does he want to beat the world or what? I disagree, Fred, that Glen is 'awesome', he isn't. And I've said this many times before. JimmyTheRed
He's a centre back for the future , who is also good at right back.
Johnson is the better right back at the present time. redconn has got it spot on. Next season if we are in Europe (90 mins away ), then i would like to see Coates and Kelly in a few games against lower league clubs in the cups.
Good attacking fullbacks are a must in the modern game. Positionally defensively kelly is better, Johnson occasionally suffer lapses of concentration, but the space in modern football is with the full backs and Johnson uses this space better than kelly does imo
I watched Richards today and even Davis had the beating of him, a dummy and he had a free crossing oppurtunity.
From what i have seen Johnson has been working on his defensive game and has looked solid this year. He is also brilliant going forward. Richards has been immense going forward and is often Citys main threat, he is like a Gareth Bale playing RB at time.
Kyle Walker also has some defensive issues but Richards and Walker are a lot younger they too will improve with age like Johnson has done.
For me Johnson is in prime position to be Englands 1st choice RB for the next 3-5 years unless he lets himself down.
Future prospects Richards Kelly and Walker are all immense talents and they will keep GJ on his toes at the minimum first slip up by GJ and one of these young lads will be in, the 1st two will probably end up as CB's mind.

Could you imagine the pace an England defensive unit could have if Kelly & Richards moved to the centre?
This season Johnson has been brilliant, as all our defenders. He has improved his defensive game immensely. Kelly is a fantastic player, and just the perfect back-up what we need, but alas, Johnson every ti me for me.

How can you say Glen can not defend? Enrique has been at fault for more goals than Glen this season yet we all know the Spaniard is an awesome defender.
He's become a solid unit and has barely put a foot wrong this season!
Fred, overall, Jose has put in a better shift this season that Glen. Jose has had two iffy games. I've lost count on th number of times Glen has been skinned, or simply given the ball away, right back to the opposition. This isn't a one-off rant from me, I'm sure you have seen my posts on Glen in the past. I will concede however, that he has improved under Kenny and Steve. But there's room for more improvement.
