Where have you come across the writing off of the 76 million?

Which you claim is "fairly well documented."

or are you just making that bit up?

What I am saying is that in several radio interviews Nigel Doughty said that he did not think he would ever get the money he had ploughed into the club back. He then committed himself to sink another £23m in. I'm sure that had an Arab, Russian or American investor come along, he would have looked to recoup some of his money from them, but I don't think its an exaggeration to say that in his mind and in his plans, he had written it off. If that's not the case though, the club will be gone in a few weeks' time.

dont talk nonsense. the debt was due in 2014.

bids for the club so far have been in the region of 8mil all of which were declined. if a potential investor now offered the same amount then im sure it would be accepted, as 8 mill is alot to lose or liquidate

The day Doughty resigned as Chairman, he was interviewed on Radio Nottingham.

Asked whether the debt would be written off, his reply was "yes". Pretty clear. The link can be found below (skip to 9.00) in case some idiots still want to claim they know better than ND did himself.

Anytime Diddy.

Its a shame some people put more effort into trying to shoot people down on these forums, rather than knowing basic information about our club.

Diddy - I think you should give Baboon until the end of the day to say sorry or have him removed from the board.

No hard feelings Baboonsybaby. It's' a rubbish situation whichever way you look at it (give or take £75m or so). I just hope ND backed-up what he said with legal paperwork.

Grff alot of things were said by those that run our club neither sang from the same hymn sheet.
today on bbc news said the loan was to be repaid by 2014 sky also say the same, make of it what you will but im more inclined to believe the latter.

Yak, all but the initial £11m that was used to buy the club was taken out in loans which obviously have a repayment date on them...2014.

ND clearly stated that he wouldn't want his money back, which means that the loans taken out would be paid back by himself and not NFFC money.

I'm not sure why you choose to believe either BBC or Sky over the man himself. Strange.

What ever he said will not be legally binding on his executor. He must have left a will, if there is a will I would expect that his affairs in the club will be included.

We will have to wait and see. Perhaps Mrs Doughty also has a passion for football who knows?

Worst case scenario, SOME of the £75m will be repaid by flogging whoever you can in the summer...the rest will be written off (there is nothing else to sell off/loan against)

The more pressing concern for NFFC should be the £250k deficit per week. How you cover this lord only knows, it's very unlkely to come from the Doughty Estate isn't it.

Nigel will have had his affairs in order,I very much doubt that he would leave his wife with the unnecessary stress and worry of sorting out his buisness affairs. I would not be suprised to see a close friend or maybe even his buisness partner take control of the club until they can find a suitable buyer.
