He started off well but has gone off the boil since December. I have been defending him until about 2-3 weeks ago, starting to think he is not as good as I first thought. I reckon he will become the new scapegoat figure if he doesn't improve
I would have preferred Arteta or Cabaye in hindsight, but also Meireles has been better than if we didn't buy anyone (unless we used Josh)
A bit like your team yesterday eh Modricsleft?
I thought he was a great signing for us, however i've started to notice how many forward passes he messes up. Could be the team struggling for form but he's not been good this year so far
I'd certainly not have Arteta over Meireles, maybe 2/3 years ago I would have but he's terribly over hyped and was a panic buy by Arsenal
However he was decent vs United
He doesn't shoot or create chances like he used to when he first came in (super goal against Genk!). He's now playing much deeper and it doesnt work to his advantage as he is no Essien or Romeu when defending.
He is struggling at the moment.
I feel like there are 2 camps in team Portugese/ Brazilian and the rest
After a decent enough start I think he’s been pretty average to be honest. He did offer something we were lacking but just not enough of it. In my view a deadline day signing who after we missed out on Modric is a short term solution, he could possibly be a squad player next season when we hopefully address the midfield area properly in the summer.
If we did manage to get a Modric or similar at some point he could be an understudy but I’d hope by that time McEachran would be ready for more involvement with the first team. I can see him perhaps being at the club for the next 18 months before being moved on.
I’m grateful for him because we needed a midfielder and he’s certainly not a bad one but to compete at a level we were a few years ago we need a higher calibre of player.
I'm surprised with how average he has been recently. I rated him very highly when he was at Liverpool but since he scored against Cíteh he hasn't done much.
I was distraught when I found out he was our deadline day signing in August - and I have seen nothing to make me change my mind over him so far!
still dont understand the whole josh thing, if anyone watche pre season you would have assumed that he was going to have a big role in the team with his passing ability
but once again like our young players no faith placed in him, but i wonder if his injury set him back slightly
there are at-least 3 players in the Chelsea reserves who if they had been paying anywhere else apart from city, would all have made debuts
aziz deen conte, especially this kid
lalkovic, so promising
billy clifford, versatile
He does everything quite well but nothing outstandingly well. I'm not sure that if you are looking to win Football's blue chip trophies that you would select him as anything other than a squad player. Certainly not the first name on the team sheet.
poor... would love to see official stats on how mant times he gave the ball away
He's better in a more attacking role, simple.
He had a 90% pass accuracy in the Unkted game from 60 odd passes
Just not good enough - and thought so before we got him
At Liverpool he played the advanced midfielder role and was good in the final 3rd making things happen but when I have seen him at Chelsea he has been too deep. You fancy a swap for both Downing and Hendosh1te?

Hell no - still rather be stuck with him than Downing!!
Thanks for the offer!
I am still a fan.
He's a very good player.
this was a last minute buy, we should lined up a better option as we weren't gonna get modric, we waited till the last day to make a serious offer and ended up buying raul for the sake of signing someone
He is rubbish gives the ball away too much and at times when you need him to feed the strikers the right pass.
But as someone said earlier, rather happy we got him than no one especially as essien was injured but now I think he needs to be benched and brought on in a more forward role to feed the strikers with essien and ramires starting.
