I think it will include something around the direction of the Commercial side of the club. I think I'll be going along so will give an update afterwards if it's not sufficiently covered off on the club's official site.

Thanks Crazy.

We will wait with bated breath to hear the wise words of JR, but I should imagine they will be to the effect that the club needs some more money.

Judging on his interview on O S, I would say that it is a banker what he is to say. The problem is that if it is the fans that he is approaching, he has no chance because nobody has got owt. Except Harry Rednapp and Rosey. I am afraid that it is the commercial Dept's job, but every club and business is in the same boat and some more than others, His own former company are in the pooh as well. Not good times for anyone I am afraid. I am not going to repeat my usual stance. But it is time that the facts of life are accepted.
MTLTF.
Neither will I mention what is real in the world and that is because people state this is a football site and all other virtues have to be ignored, all because of a bag of wind that used to be a pig's bladder. Corruption from The Conference up to FIFA. The World Cup is as bad. I agree with JR that things are bad at the club, money is not all that is wrong and promoting Mr Baldwin and giving him more sleepless nights is not the answer. Get rid of CEO for one, get rid of hangers on. If the ground is owned by DMBC and Run by SMC, then how come the gate men are wearing Donny Shirts or scarfs?. Remember we pay £1m per annum for that ground rental.?????
We all do what we can, the players are trying I suppose but finances are swollowed up in running a business. I genuinly feel sorry for JR and that is a first, but there are cost cutting measures still available. No more players moving out yet.?

i moved to Donny about ten years ago, and at that time you were just playing inthe conference play off final.
Who would of thought then that you would be a championship side, playing in a decent stadium??

some football fans are never grateful, i cant believe the stick JR has been given after the way he clawed rovers up from nothing.

I agree, but all I would say is that he has sometimes given the fans false hopes. He perhaps does not realise that his enthusiasm and stated ambitions for the club does build expectations. He cannot blame some supporters for reminding him of his promises or hopes at least, of play-off challenges etc. We all have those hopes from time to time and when he expresses them he probably does so as the true supporter he is, forgetting that he is the Chairman and forgetting that some fans will see this as a promise, an expectation or even a commitment, rather than a just a hope.

Ionly, the guys on the turnstiles can still be Rovers fans cant they even if they work for the SMC.
Duncanedwards_legend, mate, not all of us moan our way through the season.
Some of us are happy that we survive in the Championship and accept that as a "pub team" we may occaisionaly flirt with the top half of the table(that seems a long time ago now).
I for one would rather be in the bottom half of this division than in the top half of league one.
When i look at the respective fixture lists it is a no brainer.
As long as we can stay up that is fine by me.
In reality a club like ours cant expect to be amongst the front runners.

I think.. In My Humble Oppinion, that some people are burying their heads in the sand and JR etc cannot be wrong. Come on now Hound. JR repeatedly stated that DRFC were paying £1m p a rent for the ground and used it to bang his drum NOT TRUE. £280K NEARER THE MARK. Yes the people on the gate can work for SMC and support DRFC but in my Humble Oppinion, they may be DRFC fans getting in for nowt (no problem there) in exchange for working on the turnstyles.

In My Humbe Oppinion. DRFC should either own the ground (now out the window) or have A LONG LEASE, then they can lease the bars and burger stalls and take a percentage of the take. Similarly they could do the same from the outside vendors, if there were to be any or charge a rent in advance. I think that in the state of security, all half time draw ticket sales and programmes should be plentyfull but inside the ground, for safety of staff. Gate men - yes DRFC fans and get in free. Not difficult to sort out.

You are in business and have been successfull using your noodle, perhaps when you are on the golf course again why not give them some pointers. The Dons for one would be a source of income also. No Concerts at all, unless there is a damage waver ? paid in advance, the performing artist pay a rental up front and pay the club to sell tickets, DRFC take £1 per ticket and percentage of food in compliance with the vendors agreement also drink. BUT AND THIS IS A BIG BUT. make all prices affordable.

I dont have an argument about the things that you state above and i dont know whether the rent os £1million or £280k as you say.
All i was saying is that i dont see why the lads and lasses on the turnstiles could wear DRFC shirts and scarves as they are obviously fans as well as employees.
All of the potential earners that you mention would be welcome if the club decided that they will purchase the ground and if the Council agreed to sell.

I'm not sure the rent ever was £1M but it certainly went up and came back down again due to the fact the club paid more when it was getting the revenue from advertising and car parks. That's been handed back to the SMC now

Donny_Lass. Yes JR kept banging on about the deal that had been struck and the club would get the car park revenue and also adverts in the ground. My pal accross the pond can varify this one. When the SMC went to press not long ago they said that DRFC had failed to pay their final instalment of the rent, around £265k ish pushing upwards. I recall Yankee stating on here and possibly to were involved in the debate, that if DRFC owed much bigger arrears then the SMC would basically close the club's agreement at The Keepmoat. But it never came into it. I questioned the rent then as well. ON ANOTHER FOOTING. Can anyone tell me how and why the ground that we were all targetted to give a name prior to moving into it, ever became The Keepmoat because I am sure that I do not remember that company building it or financing it? Anybody?

posted on 10/2/12

Sorry that should read * From Yankee stating on here and possibly you were involved* It certainly did not last long as a debate, But Keepmoat?

posted on 10/2/12

Didnt the Keepmoat Group pay to have their name on the ground for so many years.
I seem to remember a figure of £2million being bandied about.

posted on 10/2/12

I don't know, that is why I ask. Did they pay DMBC?

posted on 10/2/12

Whatever the amount that would have gone to DMBC and the Rovers and Dons will have got none of it. This is why if we get a long lease, the club can sell the naming rights to the Stadium.

A "moat" is built to keep people out.
A "keep" is built to keep people out when they have got across the moat.

That would suggest something very secretive is going on, maybe on a par with "rosie47".
