I don't think so, think I remember something in the papers a while ago saying that he still wants to be available if Trap wants him.
Don't think he's officially retired but he was interviewed on newstalk last weekend and more or less admitted defeat that with younger players coming through (Ward, Foley, etc..) he doesn't think he'll make the squad for the Euros. is he even playing club football? Last time I heard anything he was playing for Huddersfield. Is that still the case? Do we really want a League One player in our squad?
Shot dead in 94, self inflicted apparently.
With the emergence of all the young talented players in our squad he doesn't have a hope (i would imagine) of being selected for the Euro Squad.
But then again you could say the same about Mc Shane and Keogh and i would put money on them being on the plane over to Poland.
Ah Trapps we love you but you do our heads in as well
If keogh makes the euro squad I will be disapointed. he's done nothing at club level or international level to deserve a place.
Keogh is playing for Millwall now!! Don't know where Mc Shane is. Is he still at Hull?
McShane is on loan at Crystal Palace where according to Wikipedia has made 3 appearances and not scored one own goal yet! Must be some kind of record
McShane couldnt even get a regular game for Hull. Leeds wouldnt shell out for Keogh.
But they did turn up every time they were asked! and thats what matters......to Trap!
Anyway, Trap is unlikely to make any (forced) changes to the team during the whole tournament (apart from one striker [Long] and one winger [Hunt] in the 80th minute). So it harldy matters who else he calls up.
I was doing the figures yesterday and with Given, Westwood, Randolph, Dunne, St.Ledger, O’Shea, Kelly, O’Dea, Ward, Foley, Hunt, Duff, McGeady, Whelan, Andrews, Fahey, Lawrence, Cox, Keane, Doyle, Walters, Long……it only leaves one spot in the squad for Gibson, Coleman, McCarthy, McClean, Best, Houlihan!
What about Pilkington at Norwich has he declared for us yet?
good player and would like to see him declare but has no hope of making the euro squad
I think Gibson may do better now that he is at Everton, we will see how he performs. I reckon he will force his way into Trap's plans.
True Traps seems to like Gibbo! You never know he might have his critics eating large quantities of humble pie yet!
You were right Wild Rover....no place for McClean. Its a pity, but who would you leave out just to get him in?
Hugely disappointed but not surprised. It wouldn’t surprise me now if O’Neill pulls out all the stops to try and get him to declare for the North.
Foley? Fahey? McCarthy? Even Coleman….? None of these players have been in the form McClean has. Have any of these players really done enough to earn a place in the squad? I’d never wish a major injury on any player but looks like only an injury to these players will see McClean, Pilkington or Houlihan getting a call.
Thats it Trapatonni has mind made already as to who will be boarding the plane for Poland.
Lets hope Mc Clean can get his chance in the WC 2014 qualifiers
