Fair enough Walrus,

I always thought that Harry would have paid up if he thought he was guilty and could get in trouble. I mean 40K is that even a weeks wages to these guys?

So you just believe they did avoid tax, but just because they couldn't prove it, that must mean they did?

Ok, don't have to sound bitter, like everyone is saying, it never should of gone to court.
---------------------------
Yes, i think it was a bonus payment, which should have been taxed - but the point is that in spite of me believing that, If i was the boss of HMRC i would never in a month of sundays have approved spending the amount they did on investigating and prosecuting for it without being 100% certain that my case to prove it was airtight and that i couldn't lose.

because without being that certain, the odds just don't stack up.

This was all about the HMRC and the police living off the expences and overtime of this case for 5 yrs

What a waste of our money, heads should roll but they wont as they seem to answer to nobody

y MonDieu - Maybe I'm the Dragonborn and I just don't know it yet. Michael Gove is a .

Simple - They DID evade tax, but HMRC ballsed the trial up so much they got away with it.
========================
Wrong check your facts idiot, they were found not guilty of tax evasion, but if your so sure they were guilty and you know that for a fact. why didn't the prosecution call you as there chief witness.

how Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric were not guilty of tax evasion?

Because the jury came to unanimous decision that he was not guilty... So he was found NOT GUILTY.

There has been a lot of coverage on this subject, why don't you read an article or two?

Dont worry about MonDieu ... he spouts rubbish all over the place

Guess he thinks he knows all about the case

he is just upset Harry is not going down, nothing to do with if he is innocent or not

The only guilty party in this debacle were HMRC for the absolute waste of public funds. The money that is continuously wasted by those charged with the running of the UK is in itself criminal.

Fraudulent activities start and are carried out at the highest level because they are completely and in the main above the law.

Only the the ones who get caught are the ones who dont get away with it.

When will the UK tax payer wake up?

Decspur,

Yeah I agree, it's a stupid amount of money to commit tax evasion on if they're earning what they're reputed to be earning. Which makes it look more likely that this was a c.ock-up rather than a calculated criminal act.

If HMRC knew this, did they attempt to settle out of court? Because if not then they definitely screwed up.

Hypothetically though, if someone was accused of tax evasion they could just tell HMRC to get lost and then claim innocence in court, safe in the knowledge that the burden of proof for the prosecution is too high, because they not only have to prove there was money paid which wasn't declared, they also have to give proof that the money wasn't for investment purposes. And this would require personal bank statements showing what the money was spent on, which Swiss banks will not hand over, claiming client confidentiality will be breached. The whole system is geared to enable tax dodging for the wealthy.

Red - I was just using that an example of the CPS making mistakes.

Not really annoyed that he got off, more annoyed that HMRC aren't persuing more worthy cases.

Spurs fans - Do you think he'll see the England job as a 'summer job' in between seasons for you guys, or is it a full-time thing for him?

Rather go after big business who avoid paying billions in tax tbh. So should HMRC.
